How to make polyhedrons of paper?

Paper is an excellent material for creating interesting and unusual designs. With skills and skills from ordinary album sheets, you can make a swan, a beautiful house, a Christmas tree, a tulip and even a snake. But special attention deserves polyhedrons of paper - geometric three-dimensional figures.

The first step to creating a polyhedron is the right sweep

Despite the apparent complexity of the creation process, it is possible to make a three-dimensional polyhedron from the first. In addition to the reserve of patience and perseverance, besides, you need to know that it is based on the proper development of the drawing. Any artifacts from paper, including geometric figures, are made from a cut sweep. However, the scan can take a lot of time for a beginner designer. This procedure is interesting and fascinating, it develops in a person the ability of spatial thinking, a living mind. Regularly practicing in the development of paper crafts, you will soon learn to independently reproduce even complex designs.

Tools for the creative process

In order to make a polyhedron of paper with your own hands, you will need a set of the following tools:

  • A comfortable table with a flat surface;
  • good lighting;
  • Quality adhesive (PVA is recommended) and a brush to it;
  • ball pen;
  • Long ruler;
  • Paper (preferably dense).

detailed instructions

  1. It's better to start with the simplest figure. In geometry, this is a cube. As you know, the cube consists of six squares, making up its sides. Now you can start drawing a sweep model. Do not forget about the special side labels that you need to leave so that the polyhedra of paper can be conveniently glued together. With solid lines, mark the areas to be cut out, and the dotted lines show the curves of the figures.
  2. Now the sweep can be cut, using scissors only along solid lines, not losing sight of the labels. The side of the paper with the pre-drawn lines will be the inside of the polyhedron. External facets can be painted at their discretion with bright colors, colored pencils or markers.
  3. Having cut out the figure, arm yourself with a ballpoint pen and draw it with a ruler along all the bends of the future cube. This method will help you easily bend the paper on the right lines. Polyhedrons made of paper are a kind of art, so when you create them you will need patience, flight of thought and perseverance.
  4. Bending the paper figure across all the marked lines, use a brush to apply glue on the side labels. The most important part is the label of the last label, which depends on the density of the selected paper.
  5. After doing the basic steps, let the cube get dry. Only after this, you can proceed to the final act - coloring the model. The paper hex is ready!

Polyhedron in the technique of origami

One more equally beautiful piece of art is polygons made of origami paper. To create them, you need 3 sheets of yellow, blue, red and green paper.

  1. Take one of the sheets, for example green, and draw on it a square measuring 11 x 11 cm. Then use a pair of scissors to cut it out. All you need is three boxes. They will be the first modular line of your polyhedron.
  2. By the same principle, create the rest of the modular lines of different colors.
  3. Take one red square and fold it in half to make a rectangle. And then expand it. Turn the square 90 degrees to the right and fold it again in half. Re-expand the construction and fold it now diagonally. Unfold, turn 90 degrees to the right and fold over the diagonals, forming a triangle. Unfold the paper and form a three-dimensional shape from the resulting bends.
  4. Following this principle, create 11 similar figures.
  5. Now you can start creating a polyhedron. Fix the modules, slightly unfolding and putting them on top of each other so that a volumetric polyhedral design is formed.

Now you know how to make a polyhedron out of paper. Experiment, practice - and you will soon become a virtuoso in this special kind of art!
