How to make paper flowers in quilling technique. Chamomile

Dull lessons of work in the secondary school were far behind. Boring knitting, weaving knots in macrame technique and endless sewing of aprons are what the schoolgirls did every year. It's amazing, but this monotony did not discourage beautiful ladies from making masterpieces with their own hands. In addition to developing the talents of knitters and tailors, girls throughout the country are successfully learning new types of needlework.

One of them was an amazing skill in creating masterpieces of paper called quilling. Chamomile, tulips, roses, dandelions and fantasy flowers look like alive. Collected in a variety of compositions, they attract the attention of the viewer with their gentle and original appearance. Beginners and masters of this creative process draw their inspiration in numerous schemes and master classes, apply their own know-how ideas and in time can give odds to even eminent specialists in this matter.

Spiral Art

Simply speaking, quilling is creativity, which involves the creation of hand-made articles from paper ribbons twisted in a special way. Of spiralk it is necessary to make figures that base the entire composition. In theory, there are only twenty basic figures. These can be circles, droplets, leaves and hearts. They differ in size, circumference and fullness.

Europe and Korea are the places from which the art of Quilling has spread all over the world. Camomiles, lilies of the valley, bells and other flowers are just the initial ideas for inspiration. Further subjects do not have to be searched for too long or painfully, because the workflow of creating paper masterpieces is so fascinating that creating a workpiece for one and the same template, you can eventually get a different result.

This kind of mismatched paper

In today's article, it is mainly about how to create flowers in the quilling technique (chamomile). This gentle field plant only at first glance seems simple and uncomplicated. In nature, there are many varieties of this wonderful flower with snow-white petals and a bright yellow core, as if warmed by the sun itself.

Paper is a universal material. With its help you can create different flowers in the quilling technique. Chamomile flowers are small and very fluffy. The variety of garden chamomile has a corolla with long narrow petals, located one nearby, but artificially deduced flowers often reach huge sizes, they have magnificent heads with wide petals and a double core. Sometimes the buds are not painted in a traditional white color. They can be pink, blue and lilac.

Chamomile in the quilling technique can also be small and fluffy, but there are also such schemes and instructions that suggest how to make a large dilated flower consisting of several layers. Paper chamomile are flat and bulky. They can be issued in the form of a panel or a volumetric composition.

What are we dealing with?

The main ornamental material for quilling is paper strips with a width of 3, 5, 10 and 15 mm. In addition to standard blanks, simple sheet paper is also needed. The main thing is that it should be strong enough, but not too hard, otherwise working with such material threatens to turn into a real hell.

To create the majority of plant elements in the technique of quilling (chamomile is not an exception), the contour method of torsion is most often used. The master will need narrow strips of paper, it is advisable to use kits purchased in stationery stores. Of course, you can cut the blanks yourself, but this case requires extreme accuracy, accuracy and a good tool. Because of the discrepancy between the sizes of paper strips, the petals of the flowers will differ in thickness and width, and the appearance of the chamomile will not be as ideal as the creator would have liked.

Paper Beauty

So, now we will talk about how to make chamomile. Quilling allows you to turn ordinary paper into a real work of art and recreate the plant in the form of an openwork flower. It is worth saying that this is not the level of beginners. It's not a matter of simple rolls, but of their complicated modification, which involves the creation of silhouette figures that have a contour and are filled from inside with beautiful veins.

The classical school of quilling teaches that to create a volumetric petal, you need to take paper strips 5-15 mm wide. Billets are wound into tight rolls with a conventional toothpick. Ready rolls a little blossom and form into a standard figure called "leaf". To prevent the workpiece from spinning, its edge is fixed with a drop of PVA glue.

For a single flower, chamomile must be made from seven such "leaves", which are glued together at the base. You can diversify the handicraft and alternate this form of petals with other elements (for example, the figure "drop") or use the variant of the blanks that most liked.

They are strengthened on the rim of paper. If to make a basis in the form of a cone with a wide base, the product will turn out to be more voluminous and realistic. The core is filled with a fluffy roll. To do this, take a wide strip of paper (10-15 mm) and make thick cuts along its entire length by about 2/3 of the depth. This fringe is very tightly wound on the toothpick, fixed with glue and fluffed, after which it covers the bud in the center.

Volumetric masterpieces

Craft paper strips can be made by another, slightly simplified method, including chamomile. Quilling (with your own hands, without the use of improvised tools and special tools) is a very difficult and laborious work, which is far from being possible for every handicraftsman. To help fans of paper wrapping will come a special brush for quilling. If you find or purchase this tool is neither a possibility nor a means, it can easily be replaced by a hairbrush with wide and long teeth. This usually tidies up luxurious curls and curls.

The technology of creating a flower is simple to disgrace. It is necessary to tightly wrap a strip of paper around the denticles (alternately), each time fixing the curl with glue. For one daisy, you need to wind seven petals. It is possible and more if you want to make a two-layered corolla. The heart also serves as a tight, loose roll of paper. This chamomile is very delicate and weightless, the most similar to the field flower.

Your 3D Reality

If you are a supporter of an extremely realistic depiction of natural objects, it is worth trying to make chamomile in the technique of quilling with a fancy method. It will be either field or chamomile. The principle of operation in both cases is practically the same, it is only necessary to adjust the length of the petals. The core in both cases is a twisted stripe with fringe. For naturalness, you can use strips of two shades, which will achieve the effect of shading. In the center it is better to use paper of bright yellow color, and make a rim of bands of a more gentle shade.

The petals are narrow strips (3 mm), cut to the same length. For a large flower it is about 6 cm, for a miniature chamomile it will be enough 3-4 cm. The petals-strips are glued crosswise one on the other. Thus, a whisk is formed, then its central part is covered by a core. The final stage will be the bending of the petals (they can be slightly twisted outward with the help of a tube, scissors or a simple pencil) inwards. So the flower will turn out even more refined and natural.
