A different kind of formatting is necessary in order to give the text an intuitive look. One of such elements of formatting is a red line or, as it is customarily called, a paragraph. The article will tell you how to make a red line in the 2007 Word . Three ways will be clearly considered. All actions are illustrated, so that no one should have unnecessary questions.

Include a ruler in the "Word"

How to make a red line in the 2007 Word? The first method will be to use the ruler - the built-in program tool. However, this is not always enabled by default. So that users do not have any questions about how to turn it on, we'll take a closer look at everything.

Enable it is easy. The parameters that are responsible for enabling or disabling the ruler are located on the "View" tab. Go to it and find the "Show" area. There are three boxes for checkmarks. Since we are interested in the ruler, we put a tick next to the same line.

Also there is another way to turn on the ruler. It's much simpler. It is necessary to press a special icon, which is located above the vertical scrolling slider. Its exact location can be seen in the picture below.

Ruler Interface

Now let's analyze the interface of the ruler itself, so that the user can easily navigate. How to make a red line in the "Word" of the 2007 version, we will consider later.

Firstly, it is worth noting that we only need a horizontal ruler - the one that is on top. Secondly, we need only those sliders that are on the left side - there are three of them, you can forget about the right.

So, there are three sliders that we need - the top one. It is he who is responsible for the paragraph. The middle slider affects the indentation of the rest of the paragraph, and the lower one affects the shift of the entire text from the left edge.

Using the ruler

Having dealt with the interface, you can go on to talk about how to make a red line in Word 2007 using the ruler.

This is done very simply. You should, while holding the LMC on the upper slider, drag it to the right for the desired distance. However, note that if you need to indent all paragraphs of the text, you must first select it. You can do this with the CTRL + A hotkeys.

We use the menu "Paragraph"

So, how to use the ruler to make a red line in the "Word" 2007, you already know. But this method does not allow you to accurately measure the distance, which can not be said about the one that is described below. Parameters will be set in the "Paragraph" settings menu.

You can enter into this menu in two ways. Or, click the special icon in the "Home" tab. Its location can be seen in the image below.

Or, click on the text on the PCM and choose "Paragraph" from the list. Both of these methods lead to the same result.

In the settings window we need to find the "Indent" area. There, in the drop-down list "first line" select the same line. And in the field to the left you can specify the exact distance from the left edge.

After you have determined the value, click the "OK" button to make the changes take effect. However, note that if you need to indent the entire text, you need to select it first.

Using tabs

The indentation of a red line that is executed by tabulation is rightfully considered to be the simplest, but not common. Now tell you why this is so and how to use it.

To indent by tabbing, you must first set the cursor in front of the paragraph line and press the TAB key.

After that, the desired indentation will be performed. However, if you need a lot of paragraphs in the text, this method does not work, because they can not be done at the same time, but you have to press TAB methodatically, time after time, before the beginning of the line.
