How to glue the tile on the ceiling correctly

Ceiling tiles - finishing coating, which has long and firmly occupied its niche in the building materials market. Luxury stretch ceilings and multi-level ceilings from plasterboard today, naturally, pushed the tile back, but, nevertheless, they did not completely erase the finish of the finishing materials.

At one time, the ceilings, made of tiles, were considered a symbol of prosperity and an indicator of good repair. At the moment, the ceiling tile is no longer known as an exquisite coating, which, however, does not prevent it from still enjoying consumer demand. Due to its low cost and ease of execution of finishing works, as well as remarkable performance and excellent appearance , the tile allows for budget repairs and significantly improve the ceiling surface. Therefore, the question of how to glue a tile on the ceiling, today is very relevant for any home master.

The assortment of ceiling tiles is wide enough and diverse, so there is usually no difficulty in choosing a cover. The ceiling tiles differ in color, pattern and texture. As for the color shades, there are a lot of them: from the classic white to the color imitating the wooden surface. The drawing is also very simple to choose according to your taste, and the choice of texture depends entirely on the purpose of the room, in which the tiles are glued. For example, a glossy tile is better to glue in kitchens, bathrooms and toilets, as it is better to clean, and the matt tile will decorate the living quarters.

Before gluing the tile, it is necessary to prepare a ceiling surface. In principle, tiles do not require an ideal foundation. It is enough to clean the ceiling of whitewash, old paint, dirt or grease, and then carefully treat it with a primer. Ceiling tiles can be almost any solid surface: concrete, gypsum plasterboard, wooden, plastered.

Strict rules about how to glue the tile on the ceiling, does not exist. There are three ways of gluing the tiles: at an arbitrary angle, diagonally and in a straight line. You can start gluing the tile from the center (the so-called symmetrical method of pasting) or from the most prominent wall (asymmetric way).

How to glue a tile in a straight line? There is nothing complicated in this process. Sufficiently along the wall, which is best seen from the side of the entrance door, draw a straight line that will allow the first row of tiles to position correctly. Here from this line and you must start pasting.

As for the glue, its choice on the market is quite large, but it is best to glue the tile on "liquid nails". This glue does not require exposure time, the tile can be glued immediately after applying glue on it and - most importantly - it does not need to be adhered. It is glued to the ceiling almost instantly. Apply "liquid nails" along the perimeter of the entire surface of the tile, if desired, you can add a little glue and on its middle. First, according to the planned line, the first row of tiles is laid out. Then the second, third and so on, to the opposite wall. If the last row requires trimming, then it can be carried out with a conventional or clerical knife.

How to glue the tile diagonally? First you need to find the center of the room. For this purpose two cords are pulled from opposite corners of the room - the place of their intersection will be the middle. Then two perpendicular lines are drawn from the middle. The first tile is glued strictly in the center and in such a way that its corners are aligned with the drawn axes. It will serve as a guide for all subsequent tiles. The process of pasting itself is identical to the previous one, the only difference is that it is necessary to cut the tile around the perimeter of the entire room, which requires additional time.

After the installation, all the gaps between the wall and the ceiling tile are closed with a special decorative skirting board, which is also mounted on "liquid nails".

It is obvious that some knowledge of how correctly to glue the ceiling tile is not enough. The availability of practical skills, even minimal, also does not hurt. But, as they say, the pots are not burned by the gods, as, indeed, they do not glue the tiles.
