Despite the fact that recently we write fewer and fewer letters and send parcels mainly through courier services, the postal services have not lost their relevance. It was then that they began to apply the digital addresses of this or that branch, which were set with the help of letters and numbers. At the same time, a directory was created in Kharkov containing all postal indices of Ukraine. With the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War, the system of indices was abolished. Reintroduced it already in 1971.
