How to find indices in Ukraine

Despite the fact that recently we write fewer and fewer letters and send parcels mainly through courier services, the postal services have not lost their relevance. That is why many face such a problem as to find out the indices. It is quite easy to do this, and soon we will find out exactly how this can be done. Also we will talk about what an index is, and what is the history of its occurrence. In this article we will touch upon the system of indices that is valid for Ukraine.

What is an index

Let's start, perhaps, with the definition of the index itself, in order to better understand what it is, and what exactly it is needed for. Later we will analyze the meaning of each digit in it, and also discuss the history of its occurrence. Then we will talk about how to learn the indices for Ukraine.

The postal code is the sequence of different letters and numbers that are added to the mailing address and serve to facilitate the sorting of correspondence. In Ukrainian indices only numbers are used, while, unlike in Russia, each set consists of five digits.

The use of postal codes allows you to significantly speed up the sorting of correspondence, and as a result - and the speed of its delivery. That's why it's important to always enter this set of numbers in the appropriate field on envelopes and address sheets of parcels.

History of occurrence

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the indices of most countries disappeared from the letters that indicated the affiliation of the post office to a particular republic.

Before we talk about how to learn the indices, let's say a few words about their occurrence. It is believed that indices appeared on the territory of our country in 1932. It was then that they began to apply the digital addresses of this or that branch, which were set with the help of letters and numbers. At the same time, a directory was created in Kharkov containing all postal indices of Ukraine. With the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War, the system of indices was abolished. Reintroduced it already in 1971.

The value of the digits in the index

As already mentioned, zip codes always consist of numbers. And before we talk about how to find out the indices using the address, we will analyze what each of the digits means or a pair of digits in it.

Depending on the country, their number may fluctuate - this is due to differences in the size of the territory, the number of regions and cities. If in Russia the postal code consists of six digits, in Ukraine only from five. Naturally, each of the figures has its significance. Let's talk about what each number or a couple of digits mean in Ukrainian indices.

The postal code is divided into three parts.

Thus, the first pair of numbers denotes an area. In this case, to designate one area, not one number is used, but several - depending on its territory. So, for example, indices, starting with the figures 46 - 49, indicate the Ternopil region.

Further, the third digit in the index denotes the district or province in which the post office is located. And, finally, the last pair of numbers points to the post office. Now we can turn to the question of how to know the index. Mail for sending is sorted by means of an index, therefore this question should be considered as it is possible more detailed.

Find out the index at

Quite often we encounter such a problem as ignorance of our own index. What can I say about remembering the indexes of all friends or acquaintances, enterprises to which you send letters? What to do in this case and how to learn the index at the address?

Consider this situation on the example of sending a letter to Ukraine. You know the address of your friend, his name and surname, but you do not know the index. How to proceed?

In such a situation, you should visit the website of Ukrposhta, because only so you can find the index at. To do this, you only need to know the region, district and city, the street where your addressee lives. Note that the Ukrposhta site supports only Ukrainian and English languages. Therefore, we will draw your actions using menu items written in Ukrainian.

So, first go to the site. Then select the "On-line Servici" section at the top. In the window that opens, we scroll through the list and find the item "Поштові индекси". Next, choose "Poshuk for the world of roses" and fill in the fields below. Press the "Show" button and then compare the results with the address we have. The index of the branch will appear on the screen, to which the address of your friend belongs.

As you can see, everything is quite easy and simple, besides, this action will not take you much time.

Can I find the address by index

So, we talked about how to find the post office index in Ukraine. Now we will touch upon another interesting question, which at least once arose in this or that person - whether it is possible to find out the address, knowing only the index. To some extent, yes, but the address will be approximate, that is, you will only find out which post office has this index. But at the same time, you can see the basic information about it. You can find out the post office address, work schedule, phone number and see on the map where it is located.

In order to find out detailed information on this or that index, it is enough to visit all the same Ukrposhta site, having done all the above manipulations, but on the page "Pochtovye indeksi" choose "Poshuk Іndexom". Then, in the appeared field, enter five digits of your index.

The screen displays the post office number, its address, and all the information about it. As you can see, there is nothing too complicated.

Conclusion

The postal code is one of the most important postal requisites. Ukrainian postal codes consist of five digits, each of which has its own designation. For the first time indices were introduced in 1932 and, despite the fact that in wartime they were abolished, in 1971 they again returned to use, and now the modern postal system does not represent its existence without using these details.

We have found out what the numbers in the index indicate, how to find the index at the address in Ukraine, and vice versa - how, using the index, you can find out the address of the post office and even find out the mode of its operation.
