How to connect the tablet to WiFi: step by step instructions

Anyone who owns a smartphone or tablet in most cases wants to use absolutely all of their features, including connecting to Internet access. In this regard, and have to decide how to connect the tablet to WiFi at home or to make a connection with open or secure networks. To do this, you can use several basic options, which will be considered.

How to connect the tablet to WiFi: the main ways

It's no secret that absolutely all modern mobile devices have built-in modules that allow you to connect to wireless networks.

If you consider how to connect the tablet to WiFi, for most devices you can apply four main methods:

  • Connection via a router (router).
  • Create a connection through a distributing laptop or computer.
  • Using an external modem.
  • Establishing communication through the services of a mobile operator.

How to connect the tablet to the WiFi router?

Connecting to wireless networks using a router looks the easiest. However, to begin with, you should check the router settings regarding automatic network configuration.

To do this, enter the web interface of the router by entering the combination 192.168.0.1 (or 1.1 for some router models) in the address bar of any Internet browser. Then you need to go to the DHCP configuration section. By default, the automatic configuration is enabled, but there is little that can be. Here, the location of a section or tab may differ depending on the manufacturer of the router. On the desired tab, you just need to activate DHCP activation. In this case, you do not have to manually configure the configuration on the tablet, the IP address to the device will be assigned automatically.

Next, you need to go to the tablet settings and activate the connection to Wi-Fi by dragging the slider to the included position. A few seconds after the activation, the built-in module detects all the wireless networks within range, after which it will only be necessary to select the required connection and, if necessary, enter the security key.

In another case, when the configuration needs to be done manually (when the router configuration item is disabled), you should use the setting of the IP address in the range from 192.168.1.2 to 1.254 (or from 0.2 to 0.254 - all depends on what address the router originally uses for Distribution of the signal).

For a DNS server, you can use either four eights, or two eights and two quadruples. The subnet mask is standard - four values of 255 and at the end zero.

Connecting via laptop

Now let's see how to connect the tablet to WiFi via laptop. In this case, you must first configure the laptop to become a dispenser. With Windows, of course, this can be done, but for many users entering the configuration of network commands in the corresponding console causes legitimate difficulties. Therefore, it is better to use the installation of free automated utilities such as Connectify or Virtual Router.

From the settings you will only have to enter the name of your network and the access password. To connect to the newly created network, the same procedure is used as was done to create a connection session through standard routers.

Establishing a connection using a 3G modem

In order to understand how to connect the tablet to WiFi in this way, you will first have to purchase a modem compatible device and a special OTG cable, through which you can attach any peripheral devices to your mobile device. Note, this method is suitable only for Android-devices (unfortunately, "apple" devices do not support this technology).

Now you need to set up. To set the necessary parameters, we enter the data transfer section in the main settings menu, and then the slider of the mobile traffic switch is switched to the on position. Then we use additional parameters (the "More" line), select a mobile network and an APN access point. Now it remains to add it and enter the parameters received from the provider.

If you understand how to connect the tablet (WiFi to ByFly, for example), setting the settings is very similar to the method of establishing a connection via a 3G modem. Only in this case, you need to pay attention to the moment that you must first establish a connection manually for the Wi-Fi module. The requested network can be hidden, so in the parameters you need to use the SSID value, select the type of security and only then connect to the network.

Using the services of mobile operators

Finally, there is another way to solve the problem of how to connect the tablet to WiFi. Many modern devices support the installation of SIM-cards, as on conventional smartphones, with reference to the operator that provides communication services.

Depending on the package, access is made to 3G or 4G networks. Only in this case the difference is that the operator can get the standard settings for accessing the Internet or apply direct access by activating the data transfer module on the mobile device (for example, for 3G + networks). There is nothing to configure here. The connection will be made automatically. But here you must pay attention to the given traffic limit, because if it exceeds the limit, the operator may be charged an additional fee.

Instead of the total

As can be seen from all of the above, none of the listed methods of difficulties when activating the connection should not be called. The only exception is setting parameters by means of Windows-systems, but this technique was not considered specifically, since the use of special automated utilities looks much simpler and more attractive for the ordinary user in this respect. In the matter of preference for the chosen method, everything depends on the situation. But in fact today routers are available in almost every cafe, so activation of the connection is easiest to do with the launch of the built-in Wi-Fi module directly on the tablet. If communication is necessary all the time, you will have to choose a connection through the operator (if SIM card is supported) or give preference to an external modem, but this is a cash cost.
