How the population of Perm changed. Age and ethnic composition of the city's population

Perm is the largest city of the Urals, founded in 1723. Important industrial, transport and scientific center of the country. Almost half a century the population of Perm fluctuated at a mark of one million inhabitants. How many people live in this city today?

Perm: a quick look at the city

Perm is a city with its own peculiarities and zest. First of all, let us turn to its history. It was here that the first university in the Urals was opened (this happened in 1916). And it was through Perm that the first railway branch in the Urals passed (in 1876).

The city of Perm is a real industrial giant! Iskra, STAR, the German Henkel plant, the instrument-making and engine-building complexes - this is far from a complete list of Perm factories and enterprises. Few people know that in terms of industrial output Perm is ahead of Chelyabinsk and Yekaterinburg. The very same city is surprisingly green and spacious, it is pleasant to walk around it.

In Perm, many beautiful old buildings of stone and wood have survived. By the way, a tourist does not need to prepare before going to this city. Tourist routes are laid along the streets (they are marked with green stripes), and near all historical and architectural monuments there are stands with information about the objects.

And in honor of the name of the city was named the whole period of geochronological history of the Earth - Permian. In the city you can visit the unique museum of Permian antiquities and make an unforgettable walk into the past of our planet.

Treasured "million": double conquest

The rapid development of industry in the city could not but affect its strength. The population of Perm was growing rapidly throughout almost the entire twentieth century. At the beginning of the last century, only 50 thousand people lived here, and by the middle of it there were already up to 500 thousand people.

In 1979, Perm overstepped the boundary of 1 million inhabitants. However, in the 90s the city suffered the problem of most of the post-Soviet space - depopulation. The population of Perm on average reduced by 3-5 thousand per year. In the end, this led to the fact that the city in 2004 lost the honorary status of a "millionaire city".

However, at the end of the "zero" demographic situation in the city began to gradually improve. And, despite the forecasts of experts-skeptics, the capital of the Perm region has regained the title of "millionaire" in terms of the number of inhabitants.

As of 2016, the population of the city of Perm is 1,041,876 people. But within the Perm agglomeration, which includes the city of Krasnokamsk and a number of other settlements, more than 1.3 million people live.

Population of Perm: age and ethnic composition

The ethnic composition of the population of Perm is quite variegated. The share of Russians in the overall structure is 88%. The second largest ethnic group in the city are the Tatars (4.3%), the third - Ukrainians (1.6%). In Perm there are also quite numerous people of Komi-Permyaks and Bashkirs (one percent each).

The age structure of the population of Perm is as follows:

  • Minors and children - 19%;
  • Able-bodied residents - 63%;
  • Pensioners - 18%.

It should be noted that the population of Perm is unevenly distributed throughout the city. Most Perm residents live in the left bank of the Sverdlovsk region (218 thousand), and least of all - in Leninsky (54 thousand).
