How is the master cylinder of the clutch?

The clutch system serves as a short-term tripping of the engine from the gearbox. As a result, the transmission of torque from the power unit to the driving shaft of the transmission is stopped. This system includes many components. One of them is the master cylinder of clutch, which we will talk about today.

What is he?

This mechanism is a small casting of cast iron with a flange for attachment to the body. On its upper part is a plastic tank with a lid. It is fixed to the body with a threaded fitting. Thanks to this mechanism, a special liquid enters the master cylinder of the clutch. Inside the cast iron part is a piston with a cuff and a sealing ring. There is also a spring, supported by a non- return valve. She squeezes the piston to the far right. When these parts are heated, expansion takes place, respectively, the liquid in the system must go somewhere. For these cases, there is a special compensation hole through which it enters the reservoir from the cylinder cavity.

How does the VAZ 2107 master cylinder work?

This mechanism is arranged so that each time the clutch pedal is depressed by the pusher, it moves forward. And when the piston closes the hole - the pressure in the cylinder increases. Thus, the fluid flows to the working cylinder and turns off the clutch. When the pedal is released, a similar action takes place, only in the reverse order. The liquid flows back - the valves open, the spring contracts and it moves from the working cylinder to the main one. If the pressure level drops to a point below the compression force of the spring, the first part closes and a higher pressure builds up in the system. This is necessary for sampling the gaps of the mechanical part of the drive.

If the pedal is released abruptly, then the liquid will not completely fill the space behind the piston. Then there is a rarefaction in the master cylinder of the clutch. Because of this, the liquid will flow from the plastic tank through the bypass hole directly into the piston. Then it passes through the head of the piston and fills all the space that has arisen in the part after vacuum. The liquid at the same time removes the edges of the cuff and pushes the spring plastic. And again, if it becomes more than normal, all of its excess passes through a special compensation hole back into the tank.

This is how the main cylinder of the VAZ clutch is arranged. In conclusion, I would like to note several ways by which you can independently identify the breakdown of this mechanism:

  • First, you should check the level of the working fluid in the tank. If this indicator is rapidly falling - this indicates a malfunction of the piston or cuff.
  • Secondly, the replacement of this part is made if you feel the characteristic sound of the gears when you switch gears.
  • Thirdly, the replacement of the clutch cylinder is done with the vibration of the gearshift knob.
