History of the car Ford Falcon

Released in 1960, the Ford Falcon became one of the simplest cars produced by this company, and with it - one of the most unusual.

To begin with, it became the first "compact" (for America of those times) Ford. In addition, the car had a very simple design, something reminiscent of the Russian "Moskvich", and a small number of "bloat." It was very unusual for the automotive market of those years, but this move brought the company success: due to the relative simplicity of the assembly, it was possible to produce this model in large volumes, and its cost was relatively small, which ensured good sales and competitiveness.

The first Ford Falcon had an elongated, absolutely simple shape, without any decorations and excesses. Flat glass had a small size, which, by the way, quite strongly allocated the car, because at that time fashion was prescribed panoramic glass of a huge size. In the cabin, too, there was nothing remarkable: a discreet design, a direct instrument panel. Unless the tape speedometer and a three-seater sofa in front distinguished this Ford.

But, despite the simplicity, Falcon managed to quickly win the love and recognition of motorists. His small size, affordable price and special grace provided him with a lot of fans, most of whom were women and family people.

By the way, regarding the characteristics - Ford Falcon was a very good car. It installed a sufficiently powerful engine (90 horsepower) in volume of 2.4 liters, equipped with six cylinders. The capacity of this car is also noteworthy: six people could sit freely in it, thanks to the fact that not two armchairs were installed in front, but one sofa.

What is noteworthy, it was Ford Falcon that became the basis for the creation of such a famous Mustang.

The first modification of the model occurred in the 67th year. Externally, the model has not changed, but the power of the engine has increased - in the 2.8 model it reaches 105 "horses".

In the 69th year the XW appeared, in which the front was replaced by two seats, and the power increased by another 50 horsepower.

Model XY, released in the 70th year, has a longer front end and a new engine, whose power is equal to 247 horsepower. In addition, this modification receives dual headlights.

Two years later, the Ford Falcon XB comes out. This model has a very unusual shape - the body of the cabin smoothly goes into the trunk, creating a pointed ass. In this car there are only two doors, but the eight-cylinder engine, whose power is equal to 238 "horses," has two gears - a mechanical and automatic.

Another seven years later - in 1979 - the XF model appeared. It has a shape close to the first model, and the power of the engine is similar - it reaches 120 "horses".

Until the twenty-first century, Ford produces five more modifications of this model - EA, EB, EF (4 and 5.8 GT) and XR6.

The latest becomes the 2003 model XR8, which is a completely different car from the original Ford Falcon. In this four-door streamlined sedan with soft, smooth lines, nothing reminds of the car with which it all began. And the engine of this modification is much more powerful - 220 "horses" instead of the original 90.
