She was born on October 29, 1920 in the Argentine town of Puerto Desedado. Her father is a thoroughbred Englishman and her mother an Austrian. Hilda had two brothers (Jorge and Raquel), but they had long since died.

Our heroine studied well at school. Teachers praised her for diligence and perseverance. In her youth, Hilda had to leave school to enter the National Conservatory of Dramatic Art. The girl successfully graduated from this institution.

Hilda Bernard twice married. Her first spouse was scriptwriter and producer Jorge Gonzalez. This marriage did not last long. Jorge and Hilda have accumulated a lot of claims to each other. They did not succeed in reaching a compromise.

The second time the actress married the president of the Association of Argentine Speakers, Horacio Selada. In their relationship, love and mutual understanding always reigned. In 1951, Hilda gave birth to a daughter. She and her husband decided to call the baby Patricia.
