Hegumen Peter (Eremeev Ruslan Nikolayevich): biography, education

Priest Peter Eremeev - doctor of theology, hegumen of the ROC and governor of the High-Petrovsky stauropegial monastery. He was born and raised in the Soviet times in the Kuban, and now he is 43 years old. During this time hegumen Peter was able to achieve much and at the moment is a fairly well-known person. He is rector of two churches - St. John the Evangelist under Elm (Moscow) and St. Demetrius of Solun (Moscow region, Dmitrovskoye village). The Russian Orthodox University and the Russian Orthodox Institute of St. John the Theologian, too, are under his leadership, since he is appointed their rector.

Hegumen Pyotr Yeremeyev: biography

Since childhood and adolescence, he never visited the church, although, apart from the fact that he was baptized by a half-year-old baby.

His ancestors were from the Terek and Kuban Cossacks, but they could not keep their Orthodox traditions, as the times were very complicated. But until the end of religion, people still could not be erased from people, it deeply burned in the souls and hearts of people and thus positively influenced their actions, this happened with the young Peter.

The future hegumen was born in 1973, on December 2, in the city of Armavir, Krasnodar Territory. In the world he was called Ruslan Nikolayevich Eremeev. When he was 17 years old, serious questions began to arise before him as he grew up, which he suddenly wanted to discuss with the priest.

Meeting with the Father

Ruslan, after communicating with the priest, who very vigorously and wisely reacted to the problems of the young boy, immediately began to have a liking for Orthodoxy, and he was again drawn to the temple. A little later the priest invited him to think about entering the seminary. And then after a short hesitation Ruslan decided to become a clergyman. In such a completely unexpected way, the future hegumen revealed the vocation to serve God.

Then he graduated from the Moscow Theological Seminary (1995) and the Academy (1999). During his studies he was the editor of the student Orthodox magazine "Meeting".

Of all the rich heritage of the church, examples of monastic co-operation were especially close to him and understandable. In the end, he chose the only true way for himself, associated with the monastic life.

New Martyr Saint Peter

In 1998, in the Trinity Cathedral of the Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra, he took monastic vows with the name of Peter in honor of the memory of Metropolitan Pyotr (Polyansky), Metropolitan Krutitsky, who was shot in 1937 by NKVD officers and canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church in 1997.

It was really a great saint, who showed an amazing example of courage, and a zealous defender of the faith. On his share fell a heavy burden of a very difficult period for the whole Fatherland. After the death of Patriarch Tikhon, it was on his shoulders that the Russian Orthodox Church, constantly persecuted by Bolshevik rule, was guided by it. Ten years he spent on jails and links, until eventually he was not shot.

New life

In 2003, Patriarch Alexy II blessed Father Peter for the post of pro-rector of the Moscow Theological Seminary and Academy.

In 2004, on May 5, Father Peter Eremeev, by decision of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Bulgaria, was awarded the Doctor of Theology degree for his thesis on "Theological Education in Russia at the End of the 19th and the Beginning of the Twentieth Century." It is also interesting that he defended the diploma in jurisprudence of the St. Petersburg University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

Since 2005, Patriarch Alexy II has appointed him pro-rector to the newly created Khabarovsk Theological Seminary and the rector to the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ, where in a short time the church and a chapel were restored, for the laymen the theological courses were organized, as well as the Sunday school.

Hegumen Peter Eremeev

Since 2005, again with the blessing of Patriarch Alexy II, he was engaged in the creation of a seminary in the Far East. He lived in Khabarovsk for many years, where he was entrusted with the task of overseeing the construction of a theological seminary. Hegumen Pyotr Yeremeyev understood perfectly well that the most difficult thing in this business is to establish an educational and educational process. For him, it was a wonderful experience, which is still very much helping him today.

In 2006, Peter's father was ordained a hegumen. In 2006 Khabarovsk Theological Seminary became one of the most comfortable schools of the Russian Orthodox Church. In 2009, it was the first in Russia to successfully pass the licensing of higher education programs in accordance with the State Standard.

In 2010, on May 21, Patriarch Alexy II appointed Hegumen Peter as rector of the Orthodox Institute of St. John the Theologian. In September of the same year he was elected rector of the church of St. John the Theologian, under the Elm of the Moscow City Diocese.

In 2011, on January 14, by order of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, priest Eremeev headed the Russian Orthodox University.

In 2013, on March 12, he was appointed governor of the Men's High-Petrovsky Monastery in Moscow.

In reality, one must have tremendous work capacity to combine the work of the rector and vicegerent, and hegumen Peter Eremeev knows this well.

Viceroy

Now he works in Moscow. Before Father Peter became governor of the monastery, he devoted much time to secular educational environment and communicated with a mass of people. After all, this is the work of the rector, there are many contradictions and questions, and they all require colossal forces for their decisions and explanations, and this is not always easy.

Hegumen Pyotr Yeremeyev himself admits that when he received this appointment and moved to the monastery, he finally felt a deep inner relief, which he had so long lacked. He was well aware that for a true monk, life in a monastery is a real blessing, whatever obediences he had to perform. It is in the monastery that the necessary rhythm of church life and fraternal support are truly felt. Moreover, it was necessary to start serious preparation for the anniversary.

700th anniversary of the monastery

In 2015, in mid-September, the High-Petrovsky Stauropegic Monastery celebrated its 700th anniversary. Hegumen Peter and his monastic brethren met important guests. The great procession from the Assumption Cathedral, where the relics of the holy Metropolitan of Kiev and Moscow Peter are stored (1326), the monastery was headed by Patriarch Cyril. At the end, the lord addressed a solemn speech to all believers. Then, at the walls of the monastery, a divine prayer service was held, dedicated to Metropolitan Peter of Kiev (1326).

In 1315, the Metropolitan of Kiev and All Russia Peter during the reign of Prince Kalita, when there was no other patriarchy in Russia, suffered the throne of the metropolitan from Kiev and Vladimir into a young and still inconspicuous Moscow. From that moment the head of the church of all the lands of Russians stayed in Moscow. But this is a completely different story.
