Hach is ... We define the concept

More recently, new words have appeared in our native Russian language more and more often. Definition of some we can give almost no problem, even without much thought and without choosing phrases. And there are some who deal with this quite differently. Do you think these are some very rare lexical units? Not at all. Try, for example, to finish the sentence: "Hach is ...". However, it is impossible to answer unequivocally? But this word has been going on for several years not only from Muscovites, but also from many Russians as a whole.

In this article, we will speak about the representatives of this people. Readers will get answers to many questions, including about who such hach is in fact, where did the word originated and what is its etymology. In addition, problems related to the history, culture and traditions of people such as it turned out to be quite common in Russia will be affected.

Hach is ... We give a general definition of the concept

Using in the lexicon itself this word or the allegedly diminutive version of "khachik", few people think about its true meaning. The lexical unit itself originated from one of the forms of the Armenian name Khachatur - Khachik. In colloquial speech, it is most common in relation to people of Caucasian nationality and today is considered an insulting national nickname. Although earlier it was called almost all Armenians or, say, the Tatars. But, like many words of the Russian language, this word lost its original meaning and passed into slang. Initially, in the Russian language, only the form "khachik", corresponding to the common name, was used. And it already, as often happens with national nicknames, eventually shrank to the form of "hach".

Etymology

In translation from the Armenian language, "hach" is a "cross", and "khachik", respectively, is a "cross". Therefore, at first glance, these words have virtually no relation to the humiliation of the dignity of certain nationalities. In addition, according to many, their use in speech can express a direct dislike for the Christian faith.

Scientific approach

Since these two words are of Armenian origin, and the people of the given nationality profess Christianity, then, in fact, their use in an offensive form should be applied to those who come from Armenia. But in our time, because of the lack of awareness of the meaning of these words, they are used as a label for all persons of Caucasian nationality.

Who we call hachami

Interestingly, in modern Russian this word practically no longer has a direct relation to Armenians and refers to people of non-Slavic appearance living in the south-western part of the country. For local residents of Belarus and some regions of Russia, not connected historically with the Caucasus, as well as for other nationalist-minded people, "hach" is now a common term in relation to all Caucasians. Although it is sometimes called the followers of Islam, this is most likely due to the similarity of the national mentality, traditions and moral and ethical qualities of the indigenous population of the Caucasus, the countries of Asia and the Middle East.

Tatars are Hachi? What are these people remarkable about?

Most of the first Tatars were born in Tatarstan, while the rest are related to other Russian regions where their ancestors lived. In our time in Tatarstan, together with people of different nationalities, a quarter of all Tatars live. Another part of them is scattered all over Russia, as well as near and far abroad. In general, the homeland of this people can be considered almost the whole of Russia. The ancestors of modern representatives lived in the Tambov and Nizhny Novgorod regions, in the Northern Black Sea Coast, in Mordovia, in the lower reaches of the Volga, the Oka and the Don, and also on the lands of the Kuban. Many Russians, Cossacks, Ukrainians, who inhabit these places, are already relatives of the Tatar people.

The process of development of ethnogenesis of Tatars has a difficult path, and the whole history of the Turkic-speaking people is closely connected with the Slavic ethnos. Many generations of these peoples lived side by side, communicated and created joint families, served in the Russian army, while preserving Islam. And now many Tatars play a huge role in many spheres of political, economic, scientific and cultural life in Russia. Of course, friendly relations between Tatars and Russians did not always develop successfully. History remembers the siege and capture of Kazan by Ivan the Terrible in 1552 and the Decree of Peter I on forced baptism of the nobles of the Islamic faith in 1713. But, in turn, and the Russian people had a hard time during the Tatar-Mongol yoke. In spite of everything, all these historical events eventually brought together and united the peoples.

In general, we answered the above question. It turns out that hach is, first of all, a man of non-Slavic appearance. But is it worth using this word in modern Russian? After all, despite its innocuous meaning and well-founded etymology, it can offend or upset a good person, a representative of the richest culture. The conclusion suggests itself.
