Gutters. What are they needed for?

Gutters are the most important part of the sewerage system. An obligatory and indispensable condition for the long-term operation of residential buildings can be considered their equipping with high-quality water disposal. This keeps the roof of the residential structure, foundation and walls from water flows during precipitation. Gutters gutters are important to correctly position to ensure their functionality. Competent design of the water disposal system will create optimal conditions for the operation of the entire drainage system.

Purpose of the drain

The gutter is designed for the correct drainage of water flowing down from the roof of the house. The design of the entire system should prevent not only the flow of water along the walls, but also the spillage on them.

The minimum diameter of the gutter can be 100 mm. It is fixed by special brackets attached to the cornice overhang, which also form a certain angle of the trough and fix its location. Wastewater is often part of a constructed drainage system, and groundwater is diverted beyond the cottage area to an equipped well or collector.

Location of gutters

With a horizontal structure, they are fixed under the roof slopes. Horizontal gutters collect sediments from the roof surface and take them down. These products are made of galvanized metal or plastic with a semicircular, square or rectangular cross section.

Drainings of vertical construction are located at the corners of the structure and are also made of metal or plastic. The task of these gutters is to divert water down to the prepared and remote locations, which eliminates water contact with the structure.

Basic views

Modern gutters are made of a variety of materials: zinc, steel, copper, as well as plastic, withstand loads and temperature changes.

Metal products are made of sheet steel of hot-dip galvanized type 0.65 mm thick. They are resistant to rain and snow loads, so are indispensable during the cold and snowy months.

Gutters made of high-strength plastic can withstand the adverse effects of the environment, as they are resistant to heavy rains in the fall, and to ultraviolet rays in the summer. They are very convenient and easy to install.

Waste water technology

Properly designed location of the gutters ensures proper water disposal, which directly depends on the selection of gutters and competent installation.

Planning of drainage systems is performed taking into account the features of the building and the shape of the roof, to which the gutters are attached. With a well-organized organization of the drainage system, water draining from the roof is diverted through gutters to drainpipes, ensuring protection of the basement, facade and foundation of the structure from the effects of moisture.

Thus, the roof of the house is not a correct and complete structure, unless the drainage system is organized. The drainage of water from the roof with the help of drainpipes and gutters is an obligatory element of the work on the arrangement of the roof.
