So, the local nature and territory of the park was considered, and now it is worthwhile to tell about all the objects of the complex in more detail.

Palace of Rumyantsevs and Paskevichs - general information

We have already said a few words about this palace, but it should be considered separately. Of course, it has already become clear that two families are associated with this palace: the Rumyantsevs and the Paskevichs. The most interesting are the premises located in the central part of the building on the first floor. Here solemn receptions of guests and other events were held. In the history of its existence, the building of the palace was destroyed several times, and it had to be rebuilt. Especially the building suffered, like many other objects of cultural heritage, during the Great Patriotic War. After it, the restoration of the palace was organized, which was completed already in the 1960s. What can be seen in the palace now is a skillful reconstruction, according to which all premises were close to their original appearance. The most important of them is the column hall. This is the most extensive room in the entire building. The hall consists of two floors, there were many events, such as receptions of guests, celebrations, etc. The space of this room is designed so that an unusually beautiful panorama of the hall opens through three large doorways.

Observation tower

So, the description of the very center of composition of the park - the Palace of Rumyantsevs and Paskevichs was given. However, this is not all that Gomel Palace and Park Ensemble can boast of. There is also another interesting building that is on its territory - it's a viewing tower. It is located on the territory of the complex, in the Winter Garden (about which it will be told a little later). The building appeared in the XIX century, when the production building of the sugar factory was located here. Then this tower was used as a pipe for the removal of smoke, which resulted from the combustion of various materials. However, after a while, in the 1880s, it was decided to organize a park, as a result of which some factory buildings were converted to park facilities. Where the main sugar production was concentrated , a greenhouse was placed, which was renamed Winter Garden. The tower now served as a park facility, used as a survey. During the Great Patriotic War this building was badly damaged, on its walls there were marks of shell and bullet fragments. Only in 2007, its reconstruction began and recently it was opened for visitors.

Winter Garden

Thus, the famous observation tower and the palace, in which the museum functions now, was considered. Gomel palace and park ensemble includes many more objects, which need to be told. A few words have already been said about the Winter Garden on the territory of the complex. It is located in the premises of the former sugar factory. Its area is about 245 square meters. Here are exhibited more than 25 species of various plants, in total there are more than 600 specimens. In the Winter Garden of the complex you can see really rare plants, some of them grow only in a subtropical climate, for example, magnolia, coffee tree, figs, palms of various kinds, lemon, avocado and others. Also in the Winter Garden you can look at animals: rabbits, turtles and guinea pigs, which will be very entertaining for both adults and young visitors.

Tomb of the Paskevich family

Also on the territory of the complex is a family burial vault and a chapel, which belonged to the family of famous princes Paskevich. It was erected at the end of the XIX century. This object is made in the "Russian style", there are very clearly traced features of typical Moscow architecture, which was popular in the XVII century. It's really a complicated building. It is made of bricks. 8 representatives of the Paskevich family were buried here. This object is of great value as a monument of history and culture.
