Genres of photography - where the soul of the master is hidden?

The photographer, like the artist, conveys the mood, emotions and feelings through his work. As a rule, if the photo has become a favorite profession, then the master chooses for himself one or no more than two subjects of imprints.

The genres of photography most accurately reveal the inner world of a photo artist. And depending on how full the soul of a professional or an amateur, in the end the viewer sees a reflection of the inner world of the master.

Among all the variety of subjects it is customary to distinguish four main groups of objects captured by the camera lens: a person, nature (living and non-living), and events. And, accordingly, there are such genres in photography: portrait, still life, reportage and landscape.

Portrait

To capture a person is a seemingly simple matter. But this is not so. In each photo work of this kind, a special role is played by a "model-photographer" bundle. Therefore, experts identify the following mini genres of photos of the category "Portrait":

  • Studio shooting and work in out-of-studio conditions,
  • Psychological and nonpsychological portrait.

In studio photography, the main task of the portrait photographer is to create the necessary lighting for the model. Depending on the purpose of the image, the light can be a control or simulating one. The first is located behind the model and creates clear boundaries between it and the background. The second characterizes the top location for creating a play of light and shade.

Working in out-of-studio conditions requires, first of all, a detailed study of the portrait from the photographer - the terrain, the location of the light source, additional subjects in the frame that will emphasize the advantages of the model.

Such genres of photography, as a psychological and nonpsychological portrait, are created by the master for a variety of purposes. Reflection of the inner world of the model is necessary for the photographer's own purposes or for the captured person. A non-psychological portrait is the most vivid example of a commercial photo, where the real feelings of a person do not matter much.

Landscape

Do you know what was the first picture in the world? Landscape - "View from the window", 1826 year. It is the landscape that is considered the highest aerobatics of imprinting with the help of a camera. As in the portrait, in this category there are mini genres of photographs: architectural, photography, weather, terrain, flora and fauna, aerial photography. But, despite the great variety of subjects, for the whole category there are uniform rules for the success of landscape work. First, it is the use of tripods and special light filters. Secondly, the correct alignment of the composition with the help of choosing the right angle. And, thirdly, patience, with which will be made that single frame, combining the light, color and the point of shooting.

Still life

The genres of photography are diverse in terms of their performance, but, according to most camera masters, the most difficult is "Still Life". The role of the photographer is to convey the mood and soul of photography through special "silent" models. It is worth remembering that still life is always a studio shot. And, therefore, in this art a huge role is played by composition and arrangement of lighting. In addition, almost any photo of this direction, according to the opinion of the luminaries, is subject to processing to isolate the central element or to edit the background and background objects.

Reportage

Dynamics in the moment, so it is possible to characterize this genre. Among all the directions in photography, it is in the reportage that there is no place for staging. It is always a documentary recording of events. The photographer needs instantaneous reaction and professional handling of the camera. It must automatically adjust the shutter speed and aperture value in automatic mode.

The report includes mini-genres of photography: event and usual reporting, documentary photography, street photo-reportage. All of them differ from each other in special features, but the main thing remains the Faustian motto: "Stop, moment! You are beautiful. "

The genres of photography unite one thing - they all convey the intent and mood of the photographer.
