Frostbite: treatment and symptoms

Not everyone understands that frostbite is something really dangerous or think that it will not affect them under any circumstances. However, doctors who work in the reception room, know perfectly well that most often people who are too self-assured suffer from it. Frostbite, the treatment and symptoms of which will be considered in this article, can be very dangerous, and the consequences from it are not often sad. In life, it often happens that negligence and unwillingness to take care of everything in advance become the reason for what you have to pay for your whole life.

A few words about frostbite

Most often it occurs in elderly people, as well as among young people. By itself, frostbite is damage to the skin of the skin, as well as other tissues of living organisms, which occurs under the influence of low temperatures. Poor blood circulation, strong wind, the presence of alcohol in the blood, temperature changes, various hormonal disorders, unseasonable clothing is all that, because of this, in conjunction with such a factor as low temperature, frostbite may occur. Treatment should begin immediately. It is very important that he is accompanied by a man who knows what he is doing, since here the wrong moves will not lead to good.

When frostbite, tissue damage occurs. Severe frostbite leads to the necrosis of the tissues. Many mistakenly believe that it is possible only at a very low temperature. Fate can become even the temperature, which is at least a little below ten degrees Celsius. At temperatures below twenty degrees Celsius, the danger becomes very high, and when the thermometer is minus thirty, it will become critical.

As already mentioned above, from this misfortune for the most part suffer pensioners and those who have never thought about retirement. Elderly people often find their symptoms in their body because their body is no longer able to produce heat, as it was before, and young people very often disdain warm things (primarily gloves and hats). Often it also occurs in those who like to drink heavily.

A few words about prevention

1) Clothes should be warm and unsaleable.

2) Caps, scarves and gloves in cold weather are simply necessary, especially when it comes to skiing, skating and so on.

3) Clothes should not be tight.

4) Wearing dirty socks is a great way to freeze your feet.

5) Shoes must be in size.

Frostbite: treatment

It should start with the fact that it rarely causes amputation of limbs. In general, frostbite, the treatment of which is considered here, can have four stages: at the first stage only a slight discomfort is felt, and on the fourth, severe tissue damage is visible to the naked eye. Of course, with the slightest suspicion of something serious, you should immediately go to the nearest clinic.

In general, in case of frostbite, it is recommended:

- immediately deliver the victim to a warm place;

- remove frozen clothes and shoes;

- drink hot tea with a high sugar content;

- The damaged area of the body should be washed, rubed (eg with alcohol) and a bandage applied.

Frostbite third and fourth degree should be treated under the supervision of a doctor, as they can cause gangrene.

Frostbite of the fingers: treatment

Something, and fingers suffer from this, perhaps more often. Most often, it is them who are affected and amputated. It is somewhat more dangerous than, for example, frostbite, the treatment should be even more immediate.

At the first symptoms it is recommended to hide your fingers under the clothes and start to make them quick movements. Immediately find a warm room and act exactly the same as with damage to other parts of the body.

It often happens that because of being cold, fingers (especially the toes) lose sensitivity and stop bending normally. In such cases, you should not hesitate, but it is better to immediately consult a doctor, as by itself all this may not pass.
