Football in Armenia: milestones of development. National team

Football in Armenia is developing without stopping for a minute, and this stage began after the country gained its independence status (1991). The governing body is the Football Federation of Armenia, established in 1992. With its help, athletes take part in all kinds of football competitions.

If we talk about international tournaments, then for the first time the team took part in the qualifying cycle "Euro-96", but lost in the confrontation with Belgium (2: 0). In 1995, the team won the match against the Macedonians (0: 2) and is now a member of the qualifying rounds of the championships.

The first star game of the Armenian team was realized on October 14, 1992 in Yerevan. She was against the national team of Moldova and ended with a zero result. Truly spectacular football in Armenia began with the famous coach Jan Porterfield. He brought the game luck in matches with Kazakhstan (2: 1), Poland (1: 0), Portugal.

The Armenian team marked its best result on "Euro-2014". Coach Vardan Minasyan led the players to the victorious third place. His athletes scored 22 goals during the championship. Until the very last match, the players were reluctant to enter the European Championship-2012, but fate decided everything for them, and they did not take part in the play-offs.

Development of Armenian football industry

Football in Armenia is developing not only from the side of achieving the best sporting results. A lot of money was spent on infrastructure, namely, the construction of training bases and complexes. And it should be noted that progress goes without explicit support from UEFA.

From 2007 to 2010 the construction of a training complex was underway, which now serves as a home not only for the national team, but also for those who want to conquer world football.
