Fluorography in pregnancy - can I do

Pregnancy is a period when future mothers are trying their best to fence off the fetus and themselves, including from negative effects. This also applies to the passage of fluorography, is it so dangerous and can it be made for future mothers?

Modern medicine is rapidly developing, but still the most common option for diagnosing lung diseases remains fluorography. It is necessary everywhere - when you are employed, at a reception in a hospital, in one word - at every enterprise. Every adult knows that fluorography during pregnancy can cause harm, it can be dangerous not only to the future mother, but also to other people. So, to pass such a procedure is not recommended more than once a year, so as not to receive so-called irradiation.

Fluorography during pregnancy can harm both the fetus and the mother. But with a small period it is quite possible to go through such a process. To begin with, you can consider how a small dose of radiation affects a future baby and an adult. The latter cells are divided more slowly than the developing fetus, so the X-rays affect the new cells more intensively. At first glance, it may seem that fluorography during pregnancy is completely contraindicated. But nature-mother awarded the woman special protection, which carefully protects the fetus.

But here the opinions of specialists differ. Many believe that fluorography in the early stages of pregnancy is not dangerous, while others argue that this process either does not harm, or kill the developing fruit at all. Let's talk separately about each option.

Scientists who claim that this procedure is like a chamomile, it can damage the embryo or not affect it in any way, advise to completely abandon the passage of x-ray exposure. In this case it is better to secure the fetus than to have the risk of losing it. For those women who have done fluorography, and then learned about their situation, there are also several options. If the process was carried out before the next menstruation begins, then there is no need to panic. But if a woman underwent fluorography after learning that she was expecting a child, then in this case, a doctor's consultation and further examination is necessary. If the x-ray is prescribed by the doctor himself, then there is practically no danger, because he looks at the general condition, for a period and observes the process itself.

So, let's consider another case where fluorography during pregnancy on a small period is quite possible on the advice of other specialists. All this is due to the fact that the radiation dose is not more than from the X-ray, and therefore it will not affect the baby in any way. But again, if the fluorography is not vital for the future mother in the opinion of the attending physician, it is better to refrain from passing it. Experts argue that the dose of radiation that will be received by the future mother can not negatively affect the future child, especially since the uterus is far enough from the lungs, and during the procedure all organs of the small pelvis protects the lead apron.

Thus, fluorography during pregnancy in the early term may not affect the baby. Even it is worth remembering and noting the fact that a future mother needs to undergo ultrasound examination at 10-12 weeks, which too, in some cases, can be dangerous. That is why ultrasound is recommended to be done 2-3 times during the entire period of pregnancy.

In conclusion, we can say that if the attending physician does not see any reason to do a fluorography for a future mother, then one should listen to him. With good health, tests and results of other studies, the passage of this procedure can wait until better times, until the birth of the baby. Of course, fluorography is better done on time, and not postponed to the "next" day.
