Firmware phone through computer. The program for phone flashing
There are times when you need to change the software on your mobile phone. From this thought, many people stand on end with their hair and palpitations. And in vain, because in fact it is not difficult to do this.
Why flashing a mobile phone?
Now is the time of computer technology and flat-panel smartphones with a touch screen. However, contrary to the technological boom, you should not discount the old button cell phones. The very "bricks", sliders and "clamshells" that everyone had literally a few years ago. Nobody thought about changing the software on these legendary devices. The question is, why should they be stitched at all?
Phone firmware ("Samsung", "Nokia", etc.) can be made for the following reasons:
- The device's software has failed or has become worse;
- To get a newer software.
Few people saw that such a system flew system, but this is quite possible, and there are plenty of reasons for this. In addition, official and independent developers are releasing new firmware versions for these gadgets.
Phone firmware via computer
Before you install new software, you need to remember a few points.
- First, you need to back up all data (contacts, sms, settings, etc.) of the phone to your computer. This can be done with the help of specialized programs (MyPhoneExplorer and others).
- After this, you must necessarily charge the mobile: not less than 80% of the battery, although it is better to 100%.
- It is best that the firmware of the phone through the computer is done using a laptop. The reason is that it has a battery, as a result of which, due to an accidental shutdown of electricity, it will be possible to finish the process that has begun. Otherwise, the consequences can be catastrophic.
The following things will be needed for the firmware:
- By itself, the phone is 100% charged;
- Date-cable (in most cases, USB is used, however, for certain mobile devices, a special data cable is needed);
- Firmware file; It must be downloaded from the Internet, but before that you need to carefully read the information, read comments and feedback, and before that you need to know the version of the old firmware: enter the code on the keyboard * # 06 # (for Nokia there will be another code - * # 0000 #);
- Driver to mobile device;
- Program for flashing the phone ("flasher").
Programs
Utilities for firmware are quite a lot and they are divided into two categories:
- Common, which are suitable for all models;
- Those that are designed for one manufacturer (for example, the Phoenix program for flashing Nokia phones).
Common utilities can flash almost any model. However, if there is a program that is created specifically for a certain brand of mobile devices, it is better to use it, since it already contains all the necessary drivers and, possibly, the OS itself. Here is a small list of "flashers" for specific brands that will help "cure" the gadget:
- For Nokia - Phoenix Service and official service Nokia Software Updater;
- Sony Ericsson - PC Companion (updated SEUS), unofficial DaVinchi;
- LG - "flashers" Speedo, GsMulti;
- Motorola - Flash & Backup, P2K;
- Samsung - OptiFlash;
- BenQ - Winswup, Update Tool.
Consider the algorithm for working with the example of the Phoenix utility.
Stitching Nokia
Before you make the phone firmware, you need to download and install the Phoenix utility ("Phoenix"), which is designed specifically for this brand. In addition to the initial preparations described above, you need to do something else, namely, to delete all programs that somehow can be connected to a mobile device (Nokia Software Update, Nokia PC Suite and so on) and clean the cache after them register. Otherwise, the firmware phone Nokia can go wrong. Also on every fireman is to disable the antivirus.
Now you need to install the drivers Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver and Nokia Flashing Cable Driver. We connect the mobile device to the PC. Make sure that all drivers are in place, you can in the "Device Manager". Open the properties of the computer. After selecting "Device Manager" and opening the item Wireless Communication Devices. The number of devices should be from four to six.
We connect to the computer (choose PC Suite mode) and run Phoenix. In the Connection section, click Setting. In the window that opens, select Add. Click on the drop-down list Driver, select USB and scan (Scan). Select the device that appeared. Press Select. Now, from the drop-down list in the Connection item, select the desired device. Next, go to the File \\ Scan Product tab. After scanning, the desired mobile device should appear at the bottom. If this happens, go ahead.
Go to the Flashing section, where you need to click Firmware Update. Now select the code. If there is not even the slightest notion of what is needed, then we take any. At the same time, one thing needs to be remembered: if the Russian language is desired in the phone, then we search for the name of the firmware file for the word Russian, Cyrillic or RU. When Product Code is selected, click on Refurbish. Congratulations, the phone's firmware has started. It will last about 7-10 minutes. At this time, you should not touch the phone, cable or the program itself.
Flashtool
In the event that there is no special utility and you need to flash the phone through a computer, Flashtool can easily cope with this if there is an OS file and drivers that you will need to find yourself.
The algorithm is as follows. Turn off the phone, remove and insert the battery. Turn on Flashtool. Click on the zipper icon, leave the dot on the Flashmode item. Next, choose from the list of downloaded firmware in the left window and click "OK". After that, instructions for connecting the smartphone to the PC via the USB cable should appear. We do this, and the program for flashing the phone starts working.
Firmware "Android"
Mobile devices based on the Android operating system are much more likely to require a change of OS than conventional mobile phones. The reason for this can be numerous malicious programs downloaded from unknown sources of the application, etc. However, the most basic and most common reason for the failure of a smartphone is its owner.
The firmware of the phone is made through the computer, however you can do without it (in Recovery mode).
Using a PC
First you need to make some preparations.
- We download a special utility for flashing (Flashtool, Bootloader or the program from the official developer - PC Companion for Sony Ericsson, "Updating the Fly smartphone software" for Fly, etc.).
- In parallel with this download the firmware for a particular model of the device. At the same time it is necessary to get acquainted with the characteristics, read the comments and reviews. We copy the firmware into the Firmwares folder of Flashtool.
- Install the driver on the PC.
- We back up files from the smartphone, and also copy the contents of the flash drive to the computer (the firmware of the phone through the computer will not leave old marks about the location of the files on the flash card, so it will create new ones on top of the old ones).
- We find a USB cable, and also do debugging on USB (we go in "Settings", we find "Developer functions", further we mark item "Debugging on USB" by a bird).
- We charge the device 100%.
After we open the Flashtool utility and go through the algorithm described above.
Without PC
This is done through the Recovery mode. To do this, the firmware file must be downloaded and moved to the memory card. Now turn off the smartphone and turn on Recovery. To do this, you must simultaneously hold down a certain combination of keys (power and volume down, up or menu - the combination depends on the manufacturer). You can find out exactly the combination by looking at the device's passport. Next, select the item "Apply Update From External Storage" (flashing the Samsung phone and many other smartphones based on "Android" is the same).
Next, select the firmware file on the flash drive and flash it.
Working on Windows Mobile
With smartphones based on Windows Mobile things are much easier. To do this, you need, in fact, the gadget itself, a USB cable and the Windows Phone Recovery Tool for the computer. To get started, download this utility from the official website (or via this direct link: go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=522381, the download will start automatically), install and run. The program will immediately begin to search for updates, and then ask you to connect the smartphone to the PC.
Now, the search for and installation of drivers for the connected device will begin. If they were not, you can click on the corresponding button to search the Internet. When the drivers are installed, a large tile with the image of the connected gadget will appear. By clicking on it, you start downloading the firmware file. Do not panic if the process is taking too long, since the file can weigh about a gigabyte. In addition, if the download suddenly aborts, it can always be continued from the moment you stop. Still there is one pleasant moment: if there is a desire to flash the smartphone again, then you will not have to download anything, because the OS will remain on the computer.
When the download is finished, the Reinstal Software button appears, clicking on which, you will begin installing the software. At the same time, it is strictly undesirable to touch the phone, USB cable, turn on / off the computer, as the results of such manipulations can be quite deplorable.
