"Arrow" (radar) - how does it look like it works?

One of the most perfect devices present at the domestic traffic police is "Arrow" (radar). For many people who do not understand such equipment, this device is better known as the "Arrow". Until recently, it was customary to use such equipment exclusively in the field of military aviation, where it was used for high-speed, and absolutely imperceptible interception of targets, since it could not be detected by any radar detector.

Today "Strelka" (radar) is actively used by modern traffic police and traffic police, and in some cases it can be found even by patrol officers, who need to quickly find the intruder at a sufficiently large distance.

How does such a device work?

The most modern police complex with the abbreviation KKDDAS is equipped with a specialized video fixing camera, through which it is possible to track violations that occur within a radius of up to a kilometer. This occurs when the driver can not see where the "Arrow" (radar) is located, so that he can not get rid of the responsibility for the violation. Of course, the only choice in this case is simply to avoid the possibility of violation.

Cheaply avoid the radar

There are a lot of options how to properly defend against the fact that you fixed the "Arrow" (radar). Of course, such methods are different in terms of financial investments, but the simplest and cheapest is the use of a specialized film on license plates, with which one or two letters of the number are duplicated, so that they become invisible. Functionally this is possible due to the use of a specialized polymer coating with a light filter, which allows to distort the black digits of the number, making them unreadable. Thus, you get rid of the risk that the "Arrow" radar will write you down simply because it will only see about half the characters and digits present in your room.

If we take into account how quickly fines for violations of traffic rules have been growing recently , and how really powerful radar detectors are really costly, the costs of using the film are simply minimal.

Possibilities of "Arrow"

It should be noted that with the help of an automated stationary device, unlike most other devices, not a certain car is tracked, but the entire transport stream is tracked, thus ensuring simultaneous processing of the road section at a distance of up to a kilometer around the place where There is a radar "Arrow" (what is it, the photo above will prompt). And these are only a few advantages, which distinguish such a modern set of equipment.

mobile version

A modern automated system can function not only as a stationary one, but also as a mobile radar, providing simultaneous tracking of five lanes and an additional lane intended for public transport. Of course, since 2012 the "Strelka" radar is easily identified by the majority of modern anti-radars, but their cost is not so affordable for many people.

How does such a radar work?

This equipment constantly emits pulses, which gradually spread along the roadway. The signal, which is reflected from cars within a radius of about 1000 m, returns to the fast conversion block, where data is started about the speed, as well as the range of this vehicle from the place where the "Arrow" radar is located (which is the photo above in all versions Performance).

Simultaneously, using a digital camera, a separate signal is transmitted to a specialized image recognition program, as a result of which the DVR "Arrow" selects all moving cars, specifies their coordinates, calculates the trajectory of the motion, and then it is engaged in an accurate determination of the speed.

The information from the radar and the analyzer is then transferred to a specialized cross-correlation program, through which the ratio of the indices and the determination of the speeding car is carried out. If such a car approaches the radar for a distance of less than 50 meters, the signal of the "Arrow" radar triggers activating the function of photographing the intruder.

It should be noted that with the help of such a complex, the situation is analyzed in detail regardless of the current weather conditions (it is worth noting only the temperature range, which is from +60 о С to -40 о С, and also the possibility to work at 98% ). Among other things, the equipment is sufficiently protected against various mechanical shocks, since it is manufactured in a specialized anti-vandal case.

What are its advantages?

To date, one of the most advanced devices in the traffic police is recognized as the radar "Arrow". How this device works, we have already figured out, now we will consider its main advantages:

  • Violations are recognized at a distance of up to 1000 meters, which is very, very impressive, when compared with similar equipment;
  • Speed can be measured at a minimum range of 50 meters, while the accuracy reaches 2 km / h;
  • A sufficiently wide range of speeds is recognized (up to 180 km / h);
  • With the help of the camera, a video recording of the vehicle is carried out while driving, and the quality of such video is 12 frames per second;
  • In automatic mode, those objects whose movement is performed with certain violations are allocated;
  • Fully automatically issued a command to detect and further recognize the vehicle number in accordance with the video in the event that the intruder drove closer than 50 meters.

Accuracy

Automated police radar completely eliminates the possibility of errors in determining the correct speed of cars, which is why it is considered very effective from the point of view of economy. The installation of such a device is relatively cheap, which, with extremely reliable operation, makes it one of the most optimal options. At the same time, special attention should be paid to the fact that the device does not change its parameters in the course of its work, regardless of what equipment is applied to it.

Due to this, the traffic police officers or the traffic police have the possibility not only of extremely reliable fixing of violations on the roads, but also of providing the driver with a complete package of reliable evidence of the violation committed. Moreover, the use of a mobile device is beneficial for the drivers themselves, as they can be sure that the traffic police officers have not put forward any false accusations and do not force them to pay a fine for what they did not do. Recently, the application "Arrow" (the radar for "Android") has become widespread, but in fact its effect is not as effective as the work of the original device.

Are there any shortcomings?

If we talk about the drawbacks that distinguish this device, then we can only note its cost, which, given the cost of the attached video fixing equipment, is more than one and a half million rubles. It is the extremely high cost of this radar that is the main factor why the network of such devices has not yet spread over all police devices. Of course, with the passage of time the number of such devices will constantly increase, because they are constantly trying to introduce into the modern system of traffic police, and it's not surprising, given the incomes brought by such devices.

Also, many do not like what the "Arrow" radar looks like, but this disadvantage is insignificant, because first of all it is important to get practical advantages from such equipment, and only then to think about the appearance of the device.

Is it possible to use radar detector?

Immediately it is worth mentioning that in most cases, even the most recent modifications of anti-radar can not drown out the signal of this device, because the pulses of the "Arrow" are short-lived, and at the same time are published at extremely low repetition frequency, although the frequency of the "Arrow" (radar) Is in the standard range. Also, do not forget that the power of this device reaches only 0.5 W, as a result of which the modern models of anti-radar detect it only under the mast, that is, long after the photographic fixation of the committed violation.

Variants of struggle

But of course, modern motorists have developed several effective ways to deal with such a radar:

  • Somehow close the license plate. Of course, such measures are prosecuted by law, so it is best, as mentioned above, to use a specialized film applied to the license plate.
  • Use antiradar. Of course, today there are already some devices that can recognize the "Arrow", but it will cost you so much.
  • Pass under the camera unnoticed. If you know exactly where the "Arrow" is located, you can drive under the camera so that the license plate can not be photographed by this device. For example, many people prefer to hide behind large cars or simply to go around the video capture area by the wayside. Some even manage to go around on the opposite lane, but this should not be done, since, most likely, such actions will only turn into new problems.

Of course, such methods differ among themselves on the necessary financial investments, but in any case the best option is to apply the film to license plates.

Observe precautionary measures

Also worth noting is the fact that even if you do not have radar guns against the "Arrow", but at the same time you are at an over-speed in the zone of the system, it does not mean that you will receive a receipt in any case. In fact, such devices initially take the car into circulation, that is, determine it at the entrance to the place where the survey will be performed, while it sees absolutely every vehicle, passing it from the boundaries of the detection zone to the area where the survey is being conducted. That's why you can just go around the device in a radius of more than 50 meters and not be fixed on the camera.
