Ficus - species and varieties

Some of the most popular indoor plants are fig trees. Their species are bred not only in houses and apartments, but also in offices and industrial premises. They harmonize well and decorate any situation. Considering the fact that varieties of ficus are quite diverse, they can be called favorites of flower growers.

Ficus can be attributed to evergreen plants, the stems of which stelate or weave. Its peculiarity is the change in the shape of the leaves as it grows. In young plants they are smaller and are located chaotically. The adult ficus is distinguished by oval, large and stiff leaves.

Among a large number of species are absolutely dissimilar ficuses. Plants can be with narrow or broad leaves. Ficus have a different color of foliage: green or mottled. Perhaps, it is impossible to list all the varieties of this plant. There are about 800 species of ficus. But among them there are those that are most often found among houseplants.

One of the most popular species is the rubber locus. It is characterized by large (up to 30 cm in length) leaves that have a bright color on the outside. Inside they are matte green. In houses and apartments with pleasure these beautiful fig trees are planted. Types of rubber figs are the following: the ficus of Decor and the ficus of Rabust. These are classic varieties with a green leaf color. But sometimes florists prefer ficus tricolor, with a variegated color of leaves, and rusty ficus. The advantage of these varieties is the preservation of all the leaves throughout the growth, while other plants can dump the lower leaves as new ones appear.

Traditionally, the leaves of this plant are oval in regular shape. But there is another form of foliage that ficuses have. Types of plants with a different form of foliage are not numerous. The lenticular ficus has leaves in the form of a violin. The triangular ficus is distinguished by leaves of a triangular shape. Foliage in the form of the heart is inherent in the fig tree of the sacred.

A special place among the diversity of species is occupied by dwarf fig trees. Types of ornamental plants with small leaves and not high growth rate, are quite popular among florists. Their advantage is the ability to grow and develop even in the absence of sunlight and lighting. On the contrary, pygmy figs do not like direct sunlight. For rapid growth, high temperatures and relatively high humidity are required. This type of ficus is perfect for planting small rooms, kindergartens and winter gardens.

Ficus Parcel is an unusual kind of plant. It differs from its counterparts in its unusual appearance. Its leaves are long, oval, with a somewhat elongated tip. They have a bright green color with patches in the form of spots, splashes and strips of white and yellowish color. This ficus is characterized by slow growth. But a special color of this variety is the large number of leaves on the stems.

Ficus elastic is distinguished by a beautiful dark green or mottled color of the leaves. They plant large rooms or shop windows.

Bengal Ficus is a fast-growing plant. It is successfully used for decorating large interiors.

Creeping ficus is significant for its ability to trail over the surface. It has special roots that cling to any roughness.

Ficus of Benjamin is popular among flower growers by the ability to form its stems and leaves. Its branches can be intertwined with each other, creating unusual shapes.

There is a huge variety of ficuses. Every lover of indoor plants can choose a plant that will be optimally suited to his needs and a specific room.
