Education of a puppy

Finally you have acquired your dream, now you are its master. Of course, the puppy has a place prepared, all household members are waiting for him, and this is a welcome member of the family.

But emotions will settle down, and everyday life, although brighter and more saturated now, will require thinking not only about timely and balanced nutrition, regular marathons with a leash in hand and vaccinations, but also about upbringing.

Often the concepts of "training" and "education of a puppy" are confused. And this is no wonder. These concepts are mutually flowing and similar in one: the dog must understand in the process what "it is possible and" is impossible. "And all this is achieved by repeated repetitions with the use of punishments (not necessarily, by the way, physical) and delicacies (and sometimes just voice encouragement) .

For professional training, most cynologists recommend to start after six months, and to ZKS (call it a guard) not earlier than a year.

Professional training consists of a series of courses, the beginning of which began - obedience (obedience, UGS, GS). This is comparable to the study of the alphabet. Here the dog learns the most basic commands: "place", "impossible", "to me", "give," side by side, etc. And both the dog and the conductor are trained (the skills of mastering gestures and voice).

And only after successfully passing this course can you proceed to the next step. Here, the specificity (the so-called profile) is already taken into account: hunting dogs pass, for example, the so-called natasku, service - guard duty. It all depends on the purpose of the dog.

But the upbringing of the puppy begins already from the moment of its appearance in your house. It was from the moment, and in no way from three, four or even six months.

Education of a puppy is a complex concept. Here you can fully include and addiction to the intonation of your voice, and the first "impossible", you said mechanically, intuitively. Feeling the difference between a tender and disgruntled voice, the kid is already trying to please, wagging his tail and looking faithfully into the eyes. It is on this, by the way, the whole training is based: a dog that works "from under the cane," under the pressure of fear, is not very reliable and is capable at any time to disobey and even run away.

Therefore, the upbringing of a puppy should always be based on positive emotions, also backed with delicacy. Do not forget: this is a child!

Home education usually begins with the commands "place" and "me". In the future, these teams are polished in special courses, at the initial stage, when the child is called, the baby is shown a bowl of food (or simply a delicious piece) and affectionately repeats: "To me!"

With the "place" command, perseverance is required: by taking the puppy to his rug, put it and, stroking, repeat: "Place!" The kid will definitely try to get up. Hold him, repeating the command, and stroke again.

The punishment of a dog is undesirable, especially in puppyhood. Use the voice, the intonation tone of which your pupil subtly captures, and, of course, the "yummies": pieces of cheese, sausage, biscuits - for the correct action. Just do not overdo it: the pieces must be small. Your task is to interest, not feed.

Education of the puppy also includes accustoming to the toilet, and a calm attitude to the leash with a muzzle, and adequacy to others. This is the second step following the development of the first teams.

Accustoming to the collar begins with the choice of the collar itself. While the baby is still awkward and literally feels every gram, stop by choosing the lightest, nylon collars. This also applies to leashes. Dog's ammunition at first should not give the puppy discomfort.

First time, the collar is worn for a few minutes. Then for an hour or two. Leave only for walks, - the puppy should rejoice in the appearance of a leash in your hands, associating it with pleasant emotions, in a specific case - with a long-awaited walk. Here, too, violence is unacceptable: the puppy does not want to go on a leash - distract him, play around, stroke.

To the baby's toilet is easy to accustom only to constant supervision: woke up - take out for a walk, eat - again take out for a walk. "Walked" at home - scolded, on the street - we must praise.

Here the breed is not important, the regime and attitude are important here. Education of a Labrador puppy, for example, does not differ from that of a puppy of another breed in this respect. The main thing is constancy. If today you took the puppy into a warm bed, then do not scold him when he decides to jump on himself under your own blanket. Taboo should always be taboo, and once allowed - always allowed, and compliance with the rules applies to all your households. If you think that the dog should only sleep in its place, then the rest should not allow her to sleep in bed.

Sometimes inexperienced owners of service dogs, hearing that training begin in six months, believe that the education of the dog begins exactly in six months. This position is fundamentally wrong. Permissiveness in the first months is then corrected by hard work, while the mentality of both the owner and the dog itself is often traumatized. Raising a puppy of a German shepherd, like a Rottweiler, Doberman and other service dogs, also begins with the appearance of the baby in the house. But when it gets stronger, you can start already and professional training. Who knows, today's baby can become a champion in a year or two, winning a gold medal in trials or competitions?

Good luck to you!
