Dwarf Husky (Alaskan Kli-kai, mini-husky, miniature Husky): a description of the breed

Alaskan klikai, or dwarf hussy, refers to the northern breed of dogs and has a playful and sociable nature. A smart dog will quickly find an approach to all family members, becoming an indispensable companion.

How and when was the breed removed?

The breed was first derived from the Siberian and Alaskan husky, and in order to reduce the overall characteristics, a husk and an American Eskimo dog were added to the binding, which allowed obtaining a unique medium-sized breed that did not have dwarf properties.

The beginning of the mini-husky kli-kai breeding was laid by Linda S. Spurlin from Alaska in the seventies. She cultivated as a private owner, and in the late eighties allowed the use of the genus for general breeding.

Dwarf Husky name of the breed originally had a common - kli-kai, but because of political trends in the year 95 they were classified into the Alaska clique and klikaya. The subsequent unification of the genus happened after the breed was recognized by clubs and associations for rare breeds.

Features of external characteristics

The dog klikai is characterized by the following external signs:

  1. The transition from the frontal part to the muzzle is moderate. The skull is wedge-shaped, the muzzle is narrowed to the nose.
  2. The size of the muzzle is equal to the size of the head from the occiput to the forehead. Lower jaws are not prominent. The lip is predominantly black, however, let us assume a lighter, hepatic color for dogs of red and white suits.
  3. The nose is predominantly black, but whitish impregnations (snow cover) are permissible, and in lighter colors - dark gray.
  4. Eyes of medium size are planted slightly obliquely. Coloring the cornea is different, different shades can be combined. The incision is either almond-shaped, or oval, or round. The rim around the eyes should be black, and in light colors - dark gray.
  5. Ears triangular erect, rounded tips, perpendicular to the head. Densely covered with wool. Look great in relation to the head.
  6. Structure of the trunk: medium size, the cervical section is arcuate and elevated. During the run, the dog stretches the neck so that the head is parallel to the trunk. Top line, from the withers and the front of the sternum, straight. The sternum itself is wide oval, slightly protruding beyond the front paw line. Croup is powerful. The lumbar section is short and powerful, the groin is flat and already has a thorax.
  7. The front paws are even, the shoulders go back at an angle of about 100 degrees relative to the shoulder blades. Pasterns shortened, slightly inclined, differ in strength and flexibility.
  8. The hind legs are slightly divorced, the shin and the plus point form a small angle relative to the heels and hocks that form an angle of 90 degrees relative to the ground.
  9. Paws form an oval in shape and have a thick woolen covering. Pillows are thick and dense.
  10. The tail is fluffy and wrapped in a pretzel. The tip is painted in a darker tone.
  11. The woolen cover is double. The nap in the neck area is longer than on the body, and forms a gate. Undercoat is dense and delicate, it serves as a support for the top layer of wool.

Growth and weight characteristics

Dwarf Husky has three dimensions:

  1. Kli-kai that grows to 35 cm and reaches a weight of four kilograms.
  2. Miniature Husky is in the growth range of 34 to 39 cm and a weight category of 4.5 to 6.9 kg.
  3. The standard clique is from 39 to 44 cm in height and weighs from 7.2 to 11 kg.

The height of the dog, exceeding 44 cm, qualifies as a flaw, and above 45 cm - as a disqualification flaw. Such dogs are no longer suitable for competitions and competitions.

Peculiarities of color and wool

Dogs of the breed dwarf husky have four characteristic suits:

  • Gray with white;
  • Black and white;
  • Red and white (red color means the color of cinnamon or chestnut);
  • White - such a suit was recognized relatively recently and not always allowed to participate in exhibitions and breeding knits.

The woolen cloak is divided into standard and long-haired. However, the length of the nap should not obscure the natural silhouette. Otherwise, the owner of a too long coat risks losing the competition and getting the brand "lack".

Psychological characteristics

If the appearance of the klikai is very similar to the husky, then by nature these rocks have significant differences:

  • The miniature husky has a cheerful character and likes to participate in outdoor games, never refuses to have fun in the fresh air or take part in long walks;
  • The dog is hard to bear loneliness, so this breed does not suit those who are absent from home all day;
  • The kli-kai do not bark, but communicate with the master, and the individual sounds of the "speech" of the dogs are very similar to the human dialect, you can also note the vocal abilities of this breed's dogs and the art of washing with the help of the front paws, like cats;
  • The dog is very affectionate and obedient in the family circle, but with strangers keeps on guard;
  • Is easy to train, memorizing a lot of teams and performing them with pleasure;
  • Can easily live in an apartment and in a country house;
  • Do not conflict with other pets. Excellent with the children, never showing aggression.

For all psychological characteristics, the dwarf hussy is recognized as the ideal family dog, capable of defending its owner if necessary.

How to choose the right puppy?

Puppies Alaskan klik-kaya at a young age can not show signs of the breed. To get a pet is recommended at the age of eight months, when the bite is already formed, tests for the color of the back mask are carried out and the necessary vaccinations are made. If the puppy is purchased for exhibitions, then it is worthwhile to contact an authoritative specialist who can easily identify the flaws and shortcomings of the animal. It is also recommended to buy a pet in special nurseries or from trusted reliable breeders, rather than from the hands or on the Internet.

The cost of dwarf Husky fluctuates within two thousand dollars, which indicates the rarity of the breed. According to experts, the clinic justifies such investments - it's an excellent friend and companion, which will become a member of the family for a long time, because the dog's life expectancy is from 11 to 17 years.

Thinness of care

For kli-kaem, as for the Siberian husky, it is not difficult to care. These dogs differ cleanliness and rarely go dirty. Many breed representatives spend about an hour and a half on their daily hygiene. They do not have a pronounced puff smell and stench from the mouth. The only thing they can not clean out, so it's paws, when it's wet and dirty weather.

When caring for a miniature Husky should follow some simple principles:

  1. They bathe the dog quite rarely, since it is practically not susceptible to diseases and is not allergic.
  2. Due to the rare moult, wool must be combed as needed.
  3. To avoid diseases of the mouth, you need to replace the rubber toys in time.
  4. The ears are a weak point, so pay special attention to them.
  5. The food should be varied, because as a mini-Husky along with an active lifestyle can rest for half a day. The diet should include both dry and wet food, vitamins in the form of treats and vegetables. Moderate use of sweets will not harm the dog.
  6. Twice a year you should cut your claws.
  7. Due to the thick undercoat, the klikai does not need additional warm clothes during the winter season. And for the same reason, do not stay in direct sunlight for a long time in the summer.

Care of hair

Dwarf Husky is the owner of thick wool, which is recommended to comb once a week, using a fumigator or a thick comb. When the seasonal moult comes, the interval between combing is reduced to two to three days, in order to exclude the knitting of the wool in the coils.

Requirements for the walking of the pet

In the city, the dog needs to provide a paddock in a spacious area with the organization of merrymaking, and in crowded places the dog should not be lowered from the leash.

If the animal is kept in the courtyard of a country house, then you need to pay attention to the behavior of the pet.

Kli-kai very well digs under the fence, and this can be unsafe for his health. After all, outside the home and familiar courtyard can lie in wait for many dangers.

Selection of a food ration

Mini-husky is not particularly picky in food. This can be explained by a hereditary feature adopted from the parent breeds.

A darling does not need a special diet. He is easy to please by offering porridge or vegetables. When feeding an animal, one should adhere to the principle of "do not overfeed".

When using dry food, experts advise purchasing premium-class feed intended for small and active dogs.

Possible diseases and necessary vaccinations

Since the withdrawal in this species, no genetic defects have been detected, which means that there are no characteristic diseases in the clinic. However, there is always a risk of infection typically with canine sores, such as cystitis, diarrhea, fleas, lichens, colds and poisoning.

It is very rare to find a blood disease, in which a death is inevitable, if no action is taken in terms of treatment. But this is rather an exception to the rules.

Despite excellent health, it is still necessary to plant kli-kaev.

The first planned complex vaccination is carried out by the breeder, when the puppy reaches the age of 8-9 weeks, and the repeated one - 3-4 weeks later.

The subsequent preventive vaccinations are carried out at a yearly interval.

The composition of the vaccine includes agents that can withstand such canine ailments as parvovirus (hemorrhagic) enteritis, pyroplasmosis, leptospirosis, plague and rabies.

How to knit klikai?

Due to the small number and youth of the breed, it is not easy to find a partner for generic breeding. Also in different cynological associations there are different breed standards. In addition to all this, it is difficult to identify the vices of the genus.

For mating, you should use the services of a proven nursery, or even better choose a partner in your historical homeland, but it's quite troublesome and expensive.

Before knitting, both partners must undergo helminth prophylaxis and have a good physical condition and health.

Also, the presence of an experienced cynologist for breeding is necessary, because the breed is quite rare and expensive.

Mistakes of education

A feature of the Alaskan clique is the ability to instantly grasp commands and quick addiction to human speech, including its imitation. Due to such features it is necessary to know what can and what can not be done in the process of raising a pet:

  • The dog should have enough time to rest to restore the energy expended;
  • You can not leave a pet alone for long, and leaving for a while, you should close the windows and balconies, so that the jumper does not have the desire to jump out into the street and cripple;
  • Since klikai refer to companion dogs, then any occupation should be common to the owner and the pet. It will entertain and delight the faithful friend.

Mini Huskies are an exclusive breed that looks like the famous Husky, but is completely opposite in terms of character. The dog is not afraid of cold weather, nor urban smog. Equally comfortable and feels in the apartment, and at the cottage. They do not give much trouble and willingly respond with kindness to caring. In addition, this is an excellent and faithful friend and nanny, who is not afraid to trust the child. The acquisition of such a comrade, as a mini-husky (kli-kai), involves noise and fun. With him, there will never be boredom or loneliness.
