Drawing lessons: still life with fruit (for middle school children)

Still lifes, or paintings, the subject of which is "dead nature", are very attractive to children for their spectacular, colorful, beautiful. They are happy to consider reproductions of famous canvases, admire the realism of the image. Particularly attractive for children are berries, vegetables and fruits.

What we see in the picture

What should be a still-life with fruit for children of grades 5-6, so that they can cope with it? First of all, with a clearly expressed composition, not cluttered with unnecessary details. An ordinary plate or tray, an inverted cup or mug, and on them - one or two apples, a pear, an orange, a banana. If the children are able to mix colors, select the colors appropriate for the color, then the fruits will fit unevenly colored, with overflows, transitions. If not - still life with fruit for children is better to choose contrast-monophonic. That is, apples are only red, pears are yellow and green. Schoolchildren 11-12 years of age have visual-figurative thinking, abstracting is not always easy. They try to depict objects "as in life," and if they encounter complex things in this respect, they find it difficult to transfer them on the album sheet. Now about the decorative element. To the attention is not scattered, a still-life with fruit for children should be offered in such a design, in which all the attention of the students would focus on the main object of the image. Therefore, it is advisable that trays or plates, fruit-pots should be neutral, light or dark, without an additional pattern, ornaments, etc. And one more important secret that the teacher should share with the pupils. From what and how many things a still-life with fruit was, for children, the idea should be sounded at the lesson that in the picture it is necessary to observe the principles of harmony. That is, objects must complement, advantageously shade each other.

Preparation for work

In the lesson preceding the practical lesson, the teacher must bring different reproductions of paintings of the corresponding genre. They should be carefully considered, studied. Naturally, among the benefits, at least one still-life with fruit is desirable. For children this task will be useful: describe the pictures verbally. A detailed look at each subject. Find out for what purpose he is here, what enriches the picture and why without it it would be worse. You can ask questions of this type: "Why did the artist decide to paint his picture in this way?" What do the drawings "Still Life with Fruits" tell us? What kind of mood arises when contemplating pictures? " We also need to discuss the palette of colors, which tones: bright, dull, cold, warm - were used. All this is important in order that in the child's mind a certain pattern is formed, a certain pattern, to which one can be equalized and from which one can be repelled already in his drawing.

Embodiment on paper

Boris Pasternak, himself, by the way, excellent drawing, well familiar with many artists, knowingly called the process of creativity "miraculous". A children's still-life with fruit, which the teacher will receive at the end of the lesson from his students, is a direct confirmation of this. Of course, it will be imperfect. Pears can turn out to be disproportionate, apples with oblique flanks, and oranges - painted with a compass. Beginning painters then realize their shortcomings, analyze inaccuracies. But the main thing is that they will touch the real art, feel its magnetism and charm. And they will want to create!

Such amazing lessons can be conducted on the topic "Still Life".
