"Dot 2 Network Search" - what to do with this window?

As you can easily understand, with single-player games you almost never will have problems related to the Internet - this is possible only if you need verification on the network or certain game elements are on the developer's servers. This strategy is now quite often used by game makers to protect their projects from pirated copying. However, multiplayer games are more likely to carry with them problems related directly to the network. An excellent example here is the popular game "Dota 2", the whole essence of which is in the multiplayer mode. Accordingly, you will need to go online every time you want to play. However, in this case, the "DotA network search 2" window may hang. What to do in this case? The reasons can be several, and in this article each of them will be separately considered.

Game update

The very first reason, which is also the most common, is the release of a new update for the game. It can cause certain problems with the game. So, you have a window "DotA network search 2" - what if it remains so for too long and the search is unlikely to ever end? First of all you need to quit the game or collapse it, then go to the DotA page and read the latest news. It's always written there if a new version of the client that you need to download is released. Naturally, if you have the old version installed, the connection search will last forever, as the versions on the server and on your computer do not match, so the game does not start. This problem is solved quickly and painlessly - downloading and installing the update. As soon as you do, the problem disappears. However, unfortunately, this is not the only possible option, and there are other reasons why the "Dota 2 Network Search" window may hang. What should I do in other cases?

Internet connection

Unfortunately, not always the problem is on the part of game servers or in the game itself. Everything can be much easier - the poor performance of your Internet can cause you to hang up the "Dota 2 Network Search" window. What to do in this case? You need to first try to reboot your Internet connection, as well as the router itself - perhaps this will fix the problem. At the same time you can restart the Steam client to avoid possible hangups in the future. If this does not help you, then you either have to wait for the connection to normalize, or contact the provider to understand why your Internet is not working or that it is functioning so badly that it does not allow you to join the game. Naturally, while there is no connection to the network, "DotA 2" will not be available to you. You can only train on bots, but this is not so exciting as fights with real people.

Changing the boot region

Experienced multiplayer players should be familiar with the word "ping" - this is the response time of the server, that is, the time interval for which the signal from your computer reaches the server, or more precisely - the time for which information is exchanged between your PC and the server. Naturally, the more time this is, the worse your game will work. And even if your problem is not that there is no network connection, "DotA 2" still may not work and hang on the window described above. The reason here may be in a too high ping. You can solve this problem by changing the boot region. Simply put, you change the server from which the game information will be loaded. If you install the server that is closest to your location, it is likely that the ping will drop significantly and you can enjoy the game without problems. Now you know one more reason why "Dota 2" is writing "Search for a network". However, again this is not the last reason, so it's worth paying attention to the others.

Change the connection port

Now we should consider the more rare causes of this problem. Perhaps the problem is not with the server itself or your Internet connection. Difficulties can arise with the port through which you connect to the server. Under certain conditions, you can not connect to the Dota2 network. Why is this happening? The reasons for this can be quite a lot both on your part and on the server side, but it's better to immediately consider the solution, not the reasons. You need to set the clientport command in the startup parameters of the game and specify a different port - this may well work.

Checking the integrity of the cache and reinstalling

Another way to get rid of not only this problem, but also many others is to check the integrity of the game cache, which is executed from the game menu in the "Steam". The system will recheck all files related to the game that are on your computer, compare them with how everything should be, and if it finds a mismatch, it will restore the missing files. If this does not help, then you just have to try and reinstall the game.
