From the history of the breed

The Parson Russell Terrier dog appeared in England in the 19th century. She was brought out for badgers and foxes. The name of the breed is associated with the name of John (Jack) Russell - a priest of the Anglican Church. The pastor, born in 1795, was a passionate lover of hunting and dogs. In 1819, he bought a dog Trump in the village of Elmsford at the milkman, white with beige specks. From that moment the man began to breed the terriers. He planned to bring dogs that had great speed and extraordinary bravery, so that they would not be afraid of foxes and severe badgers. John wanted his pets to be friendly, easy to get along with other animals and not to be excessively aggressive.
