Dog booth: building rules, calculation of sizes and required materials

A four-legged friend appeared in your house. If you plan to keep it on the street, it does not matter, in the cage, on the leash at the entrance or the animal will quietly move around the site, in any case you will need a dog booth. This is the place where the dog can retire, rest, sleep, conveniently located, shelter from the cold, rain, sun and wind. This is his house. To create such it is necessary to approach with all responsibility, after all, the doghouse is for a long time, perhaps, for the rest of her life.

The basic rules of building a booth

The size of the room should be well thought out, the animal should be comfortable inside, but too large a kennel should not be done if your region has a cold climate. In winter, the dog will freeze, because its house is heated only by the heat of the body of the tenant. The pet should be able to turn inside, and also lie down on the side, stretching out the limbs at full length. If you still have a young dog or just a kid, the size of the kennel should be calculated taking into account the fact that the pet will grow. A booth for a dog can be simple and "two-chambered" with a tambour. The second option is preferable in a cold climate with severe winter. The tambour creates an air buffer, not allowing the cold to penetrate into the room where the animal sleeps.

Cleaning

To facilitate access, make a hinged roof or front wall (less often). In a cold climate, the climbing zone must not be cut to the ground, so that cold air does not blow out on the floor in the booth. You should set the threshold so that it allows you to sweep the garbage from the inside. For example, you can make a hole that closes a small door.

Materials that are used

The best of them is traditionally considered to be a coniferous tree. For the frame use bars, for the floor - a solid board of the calculated size.

For the cladding inside the structure we take the lining wooden, plywood, outside - the lining wooden or plastic, in extreme cases - fiberboard (painted waterproof paint). Do not recommend sheeting with metal sheets.

The roof is made of a solid board or a bar frame trimmed with plywood. Fasten it to the back wall by means of loops. If there is a canopy, the booth for the dog is built without a roof. If it is not provided, then it is necessary to make a single roof, covering it with roofing felt, bitumen shingles, slate or other roofing materials.

Heater can serve as a foam, sawdust or mineral wool. It is laid between two layers of skin - external and internal.

The lap is closed with a dense cloth suspended from above. In order for it not to blow off the wind, sacks of sand are sewed into the bottom edge of the curtain.

What should be the size of the dog booth

  1. Height. Calculation: the height of the pet at the withers plus 10-15 cm.
  2. Depth. Calculation: we lay the dog on its side, we measure the distance from the line of the back to the claws plus 10-15 cm.
  3. Width. In a simple kennel this size will be equal to the length of the animal from the nose to the tip of the tail plus 10 cm. In the room with the tambour we add the width of the latter: it will be 45-60 cm and depend on the size of the dog.
  4. Laz. Its width will be equal to the breadth of the animal's chest plus 5-8 cm. Height is the height of the dog at the withers minus 5 cm.

Drawing kennels

How to create a booth scheme for a dog? It is not difficult. Using the obtained dimensions of the room, we construct a rectangle on the paper. A complex kennel will require complex drawings and skills in construction. But we are considering simple universal variants of rectangular shape. The presented picture shows both variants of the booth: with a tambour and without it.
