Cystitis in dogs

Cystitis in dogs is a disease of the bladder, namely, a chronic or acute inflammation of its internal tissues. The main cause of its occurrence is an upward bacterial infection. In healthy dogs in the urethra - the urethra - there live different bacteria that have got here from the skin, as well as from the rectum through the open loop of a bitch or a male penis. With the next urination, the dogs from the urethra are washed off. But in the case of violation of the process of urination, frequency and amount of urine, the occurrence of cystitis occurs. Microorganisms can also enter the bladder through the ureters from the kidneys or be carried with blood. As a rule, this happens because the urethra is clogged due to the formation of a tumor or urolithiasis. Bitches, as a rule, are more often infected with infections than males.

The work of the bladder can be affected by hypothermia and nervous disorders, and also that the dog was not able to urinate through the necessary time intervals. Irritation of the bladder is also caused by substances that are excreted in the urine. Often these are medicines that contain tar. These drugs are used to treat skin diseases in dogs, so you need to be careful and not allow the animal to lick them from the coat.

Cystitis in dogs manifests itself in different ways. The most pronounced symptoms are: the presence of blood in the urine, urination at home. When palpation it is noticeable that the bladder of the animal is enlarged. The dog sits down and takes a pose in which urinates, the males usually lift their paws, and the result is minimal. Frequent urination in small portions indicates chronic diseases of the bladder. This becomes a problem for the owner of the animal, as the dog often requires to release it into the yard, including at night.

Muddy with a sharp odor of urine is not a sign of cystitis. Other factors could have caused its changes. To accurately determine them, the dog's urine should be passed on to bacterial and chemical analysis, which immediately reveals the presence in the sediment of the crystals and cells characteristic of the disease. With prolonged neglected or purulent inflammation, the dog may have a high fever, weakness, and lack of appetite.
