Cultivation is the main way of soil cultivation in agriculture

Agriculture plays a huge role in the development of the state, as well as its economy. After the society began to switch to an industrial model, agricultural production lost its importance. But nevertheless, it remains a major supplier of products and money to the budget.

Modern technologies have made it possible to increase yield, while spending less effort. Let's consider the basic operations on soil cultivation.

Cultivation

This is one of the most common processing options used in agriculture of various countries. It can be of several types (solid and inter-row), and certain requirements are imposed on it.

Cultivation is a method of cultivating the soil, in which a shallow lower stratum of earth is carried to the surface. At the same time, it loosens and crumbles, and also mixes with each other. Thanks to this method of processing, the surface of the field is leveled, weeds are cut and necessary fertilizers fall into the soil.

This method allows you to loosen the top layer, which performs very important functions. It does not allow evaporating water, accelerates the penetration of heat into the soil, creates optimal conditions for microbiological processes and nutrient intake.

Plowing

This is another way of cultivating the soil. Plowing, as well as cultivation, is the turnover and the subsequent loosening of the layer. Produced by means of plows equipped with skimmer.

In the process, the earth rises and crumbles, falling asleep over the top layer. It contains the bulk of larvae of pests and seeds of weeds. As a result, this layer of land is deep, where most of the pests die.

A separate point is to set up mechanisms for work. It is necessary that the depth and width of plowing is optimal for plant culture and soil type, and not the crumbled layer should be closed with loosened ground.

Difference

Very often one can find the opinion that plowing and cultivation are one and the same. In fact, there are significant differences.

Plowing is the cultivation of the soil, in which a complete rotation of the earth occurs. Lower layers cover the upper ones. And the depth can be up to 40 centimeters.

Cultivation is the process by which the loosening of the land without its turnover occurs. It is not suitable for plant crops that need a depth of planting. Therefore it is used in the spring processing of the earth.

Choice of cultivator

The adaptations for the cultivation of the soil are of two kinds. It's electrical and mechanical. The first require connection to the power source, so the second is much more common. They are often called motor cultivators.

They work on gasoline or special oil. To choose a good option for yourself, you should stop on the parameters:

  • The size of the plot, its features and soil composition. The choice of the cultivator model is affected by the area (flat or hilly), peat or clay, as well as the depth of future processing (weeding or plowing).
  • The cost. European models will be much more expensive than domestic or Chinese brands. But it should be remembered that the life of the foreign equipment is much longer.
  • Power and weight. There are small, light, heavy or heavyweight. It is necessary to rationally choose a cultivator, because there is no point in buying a massive unit for processing a small plot.

Safety precautions

Cultivation of soil is a process that requires caution and attention. The first step is to make sure that there are no hard and sharp objects on the site. During operation, avoid touching the unit with body parts and be especially careful when refueling with fuel.
