Creating a boot disk is an aerobatics for a simple user

In the days of Windows 98, creating a boot disk was a non-trivial task, requiring a cunning approach, the ability to read between lines and understand the computer from a half-word. Then it was not enough just to have a carrier, from which it was required to put the operating system on the computer. It was necessary to comprehend the whole art of creating bootable floppies, using them and controlling the computer with two or three intuitively mastered commands, the hints to which, given by the installer, were even more confusing and were supposedly aimed at mocking at the user.

The emergence of new programs has become a breath of fresh air, which made it possible to install the system without even having the special knowledge or practically shamanic ability to convince the computer of its own right. In order to create a bootable disk Windows XP, you need to acquire a program that can work with ISO-images. This utility is quite possible to choose Nero Burning Rom. Many considered this stage optional and used a built-in utility for burning discs. It, of course, wrote down on a compact all necessary files, but creation of a boot disk was impossible to it.

The fact is that such a record simply burns certain files on the media, but the structure of the original disc is not saved. This means that there is no special sector that will intercept control over the computer and initiate the installation. In order for the system to recognize the media as an installation disk, it is necessary to remove a full copy of the location of the units and zeros on the surface of the compact. For this, the ISO image was made. He completely copied the sequence of pits and legends that are necessary to properly create a boot disk.

Then this image was loaded into a program that can work with this type of files, after which the burning process began. Depending on the quality and speed of the drive, this process could take from ten minutes to an hour or more. When the process was finished, the output turned out to be a real installation disk of Windows XP. It was enough to insert it into the computer and reboot the system by selecting the necessary boot order in the BIOS - first from the compact, and then, if the media is not found, from the hard drive.

Creating a boot disk Windows 7 is completely identical to the method used for the system of the last generation. The main difference is that for this process it is necessary to use a DVD-ROM, since the amount of installation files exceeds the free space on the usual compact.

In addition to the above methods, in the modern world, where flash media are widely used, you can use an alternative way of installing the system by creating a bootable flash drive. This will require installation files that can be copied from any Windows XP / 7 drive, as well as a flash card with a gigabyte capacity for XP and about three gigabytes for 7. Using the WinToFlash program, you can create a bootable flash drive in a few clicks. Since the utility is oriented to a normal user, it has a special installation wizard that does all the necessary procedures on its own.
