Correctional School: Training Program

The right to receive education is available to all citizens of the Russian Federation, including children with disabilities, who can receive education in general educational institutions, which are usually located near the house, or their correctional school will be their second home. Education at a general school contributes to more effectively solve problems associated with integration in society and social adaptation. Integrated education is the most important and promising direction for improving the educational system of children with limited opportunities. Forms, types of integration vary from the degree of physical and mental development deficiencies. Training for students with disabilities occurs either in the age-appropriate classes, or in correctional classes. Specially for such children in each city there is a correctional school. Children with an easy degree of mental retardation tend to be taught in the same class as children who do not have developmental disabilities. The number of children with limited opportunities should not be more than 4 people in the class.

Lessons in the correctional school, in the regular classroom or in the correctional class, with such children go according to the individual curriculum. To ensure the flexibility of the educational process and the successful development of educational programs, the latest modern educational technologies and programs for correctional schools are used.

Lessons in the correctional school are held on an individual schedule. For example, instead of chemistry and physics lessons, the student goes to technology lessons. Since the seventh grade, the correctional school provides specialized labor training, as well as vocational training for such students. The profile is chosen taking into account the programs of the correctional schools of the 8th kind. The program material also adapts to these programs. If the level of development of children does not allow them to learn with normally developing children, they can be trained in the correctional class available in an educational institution of a general type. Teaching of children on the correctional program of the school of the 8th type takes place on the recommendation of the psycho-medical and pedagogical commission, as well as with the written consent of the parents with whom the contract is concluded, which stipulates the rights and obligations of all parties to the educational process. At the same time, a contract for further medical examination is concluded to draw up programs for further individual education.

Programs for correctional schools, curricula, an annual calendar schedule and a timetable for classes are developed taking into account the age, health status, the characteristics of mental development and the individual capacity of children with disabilities.

For children who temporarily or permanently can not attend general education institutions for reasons of health, the education authorities provide home-based education with the consent of parents (legal representatives) of this category of children. The basis for the organization of education at home is the conclusion of a medical and preventive institution issued in accordance with the list of diseases, the presence of which entitles them to study at home. Training of students at home is carried out by a correctional school that implements general education programs, as a rule, closest to their place of residence.

The enrollment of the child to an individual form of education (at home) in an educational institution is carried out in the general procedure for admission of citizens to educational institutions, established by the current legislation in the field of education.
