Author

Fyodor Pavlovich Reshetnikov is a Soviet painter and graphic designer, winner of two Stalin Prizes, awarded for the paintings "The Generalissimo of the Soviet Union JV Stalin", "Arrived on vacation" and "For peace!" Since 1943 he began to draw children, especially teenagers, since he himself had a daughter, Luba. At the international exhibition in the city of Brussels his paintings were awarded a bronze medal.

History of creation

The initial idea was to portray an excellent pupil from the board, who received the next five. Then Reshetnikov decided that it would be more interesting to plot how diligent the student can not cope with the task and he is given a deuce. On several sketches such an honors pupil is depicted in the classroom, at the blackboard, and a strict teacher looks at him with disappointment and reproach.

But when Reshetnikov's painting "Again Deuce" was almost completed, his daughter Lyuba-and she was a diligent student-brought a deuce from school. Then Fyodor Pavlovitch wanted to show the bitterness of this situation in the family environment, and not in the classroom.

Composition on the painting "Again the deuce": a description

The action takes place in the family of ordinary Soviet citizens. If we talk about the description of the painting "Again the deuce," then its composition is very clear and understandable. Many details are guessed between the lines. If you remember the year when the painting "Again the deuce" was painted (and this is 1952), it means that seven years have passed since the Second World War. Judging by the approximate age of the children (12, 8 and 4), only the youngest did not find the war. Father returned alive from the front, and a third child appeared in the family. Of course, the head of the family is not depicted here, but he is most likely at work, as the window is still light, but it happens in the winter.

At home at this time are the mother, elder sister, younger brother and a dog. It all looks as if, before the appearance of the grieving disciple, each of them was quietly engaged in his own business. Mother in the knotted apron bustled about the au pair, the little sister was preparing to sit down for lessons, the youngest mastered all the subtleties of riding a bicycle, and the dog indulged in its special canine joys. But suddenly the door opens, and the middle son comes in. The portfolio, from which skates look, was hastily bandaged with string, the boy's ears are red with frost. The dog immediately joyfully rushes to him, wagging his tail and cheering joyfully. But he is not up to this now, he is forced to report about another deuce. A couple of moments of dead silence reigns, only one can hear the knock of the wall clock on the wall and the snuffling of the dog. This very moment and captured the famous picture of Reshetnikov "Again the deuce."

Reaction to an event

Each of the five characters has its own. The grief-student himself is upset not so much by the assessment itself, but by the fact that he will again be scolded or used other educational measures. He as much as possible delayed this moment of truth, because after school he did not go immediately to his home, but he also chased the boys with skates and rolled from the hill on the sighted portfolio. Now he stands, looking down, not to look into the eyes of a sorry mother. But in this reckless fellow, many could see themselves, and therefore his image evokes sympathy, not condemnation.

And the mother, in anticipation of her son, probably looked at her wrist watch more than once. And as soon as the boy appeared on the doorstep, she was ready to pour him in for being late, and then there was a deuce! The woman sat down on the edge of the chair from the unpleasant news. In her eyes a silent reproach and disappointment. She looks at him as if he had committed a serious crime.

Sister - apparently, an excellent student - also assesses her brother with disapproval. She knows the value of her five and the deuce surely will never bring. By the way, on the wall in the apartment hangs a photographic reproduction of another picture of Reshetnikov "Arrived on vacation", where the main character is also, apparently, an exemplary pupil.

And the younger tomboy slyly smiles, because on the expression of the mother's face understands that today not only he will get for childish leprosy.

And only the dog sees in front of him a loyal friend, not a dowager.

Embellished reality

Today's critics reproach Reshetnikov for drawing what was not really what he was doing, but what he had to see. And the picture "Again the deuce" is no exception.

It was written in 1952, seven years after the end of the Second World War. At that time the everyday life of average Soviet citizens was still very miserable. The country just got up from the ruins. Toys like a bicycle for many families were an unaffordable luxury. The same can be said about the carpet on the floor, and about the parquet board. These are now such rugs except in the village you will see. In the 50 years in the apartments was a maximum of linoleum, and parquet and carpets were in short supply.

True, the picture "Again the deuce" a little deviates from the canons of the correct ideology, because as the main character is not chosen an excellent student (the future builder of communism), but a double creator, and even a sympathizer.

But basically Reshetnikov never went beyond the boundaries outlined by the party, clearly understanding his task of portraying the life of Soviet citizens in the lightest tones. Although it should not be immediately attributed to him the servility of the authorities. Perhaps he simply believed in himself what he painted. On the other hand, he created for a whole generation that survived the horrors of the war years. His cute sketches on public topics helped to understand that life continues, and switched to less global problems (passing exams, bad grades, the arrival of a grandson for vacations).

Classics of this genre is the picture of Reshetnikov "Again the deuce". The writing on it was written by the grandmothers and grandfathers of today's schoolchildren. It is interesting that the artist then wrote a continuation of this picture called "Re-examination". The protagonist is the same careless student who is preparing to be transferred to the village.

Any schoolboy - current or yesterday - has experienced the pain of disappointment from a bad evaluation. Therefore, to write an essay on the painting "Again the deuce" under everyone's power.
