Construction helmet - a reliable protection against trouble

The construction helmet is not an ordinary headdress. It is used to protect the head in work associated with an increased risk of obtaining various injuries. Without it, the work of builders, miners, rescuers and workers in many other specialties is simply unthinkable.

For the first time the concept of "helmet" appeared in the 16th century. This metal garment protected the warrior during the battle from most head injuries. It is he who is considered the ancestor of all modern protective headgear. At present, the construction helmet is used for individual protection in the most dangerous jobs for human health. This protective agent is manufactured from the latest, improved materials. Modern construction helmets are much more comfortable than their predecessors.

The first material, which was replaced by metal, was a fragile plastic that could protect the head except from falling small fragments of construction debris on it. Very often such construction helmets were simply cracked during deformation or impact. For some time, their creators did not take into account the damping role of this protective agent, which often led to unpleasant consequences for human health. Every year, the construction helmet has improved more and more, providing its owners greater security. Back in 1984, the State Standard of the USSR introduced technical conditions for the manufacture and operation of these protective devices.

The body is called the upper part of the helmet, which is hit. It must be strong, firm, resistant to splitting and deformation, round and smooth. The best materials: plastic ABC, fiberglass reinforced from polycarbonate, polyethylene. It should be noted that with prolonged exposure to various natural factors, plastic and polyethylene housings lose their strength significantly.

The visor of the construction helmet is the bent part of the body, protruding above the eyes. It protects them from dust and sunlight. The helmet's fields are called the bent edges of its hull, which can have a special gutter. A shock absorber is an element of the rig that repeats the shape of the head. It can be with a fixed and adjustable structure. The shock absorbers are attached to the shock absorber. They absorb most of the kinetic energy upon impact. In the helmet is a carrier (partially or completely covers the head), occipital (adjustable) and softening (in the forehead) tape.

The protective upholstery of the building helmet absorbs kinetic energy, the chin strap reliably fixes this protective agent on the head. Some models have air vents that circulate air. Modern manufacturers produce helmets that glow in the dark or with additional equipment (flashlight, intercom, headphones, radio, face shield). The case has a different color, while the color indicates its purpose. White helmets are produced for the management team; Red - for masters, engineers, superintendents, mechanics, power engineers, technical workers; Orange and yellow - for workers; Brown - for miners; Blue - for mine rescuers.

To ensure reliable protection, this protective device should fit the size of the user's head . Because due to damage to the body or its partial destruction, it absorbs the impact energy, the highest requirements are imposed on it. A construction helmet that has been impacted is subject to replacement, even if there is no visible damage on it. Users of this protective device do not have the right to replace or withdraw its branded components. Store construction helmets in dry, heated rooms at a temperature of 15 ° C on racks located far from the heating devices (the distance is not less than 1 m). During storage, they should not lie under the sun's rays, and also be exposed to mechanical influences, the influence of vapors of various organic solvents, groundwater and atmospheric water.

The shelf life of the helmet must not exceed 1 year from the date of manufacture. Manufacturers give a warranty period of operation - 2 years from the date of its use, not more than 3 years from the time of its manufacture.
