Description of clematis

Thanks to beautiful shoots decorated with multicolored large flowers, clematis in the garden can become one of the most central elements. This is really so, because with their help you can decorate arches, gazebos and even a home veranda. This plant many rightly called the liana queen, but it grows on all continents. Known now are about two hundred of its species, of which fifteen can be found on the territory of our country. Decorative horticulture can perfectly adapt clematis both to survival in severe frosts and to high heat. The length of the stems of this plant can reach five meters. Each of the flowers consists of a number of pestles with stamens and sepals, painted in different colors, in quantities from four to twelve. The leaves of this creeper have several parts of different density, shades and forms. With regard to the root system of the plant, it consists of a basic and shortened root, as well as several lateral cord-like roots. At the same time new shoots appear in it constantly.

Clematis planting

The plant very much does not like stagnant water and acid soil. Clematis in the garden must be planted in a place that is protected from winds. If the groundwater is located close to the surface, it is recommended to lay rubble or broken brick at the bottom of the landing holes. The important point is that these lianas grow very quickly and in one place can be up to 10 years. The soil before the start of planting is enriched with humus with the addition of hydrated lime, ash and mineral trace elements in an amount of about 200 g. Then it digs a pit about 60 cm deep with the same width and length. The very process of planting is usually carried out at the end of spring or early autumn. In turn, the rooted two-year-old cuttings are the ideal planting material. The main thing is not to forget to spread the roots of the plant and compact the earth. To ensure that in the cold season clematis in the garden are not frozen, but in the roast do not overheat, it is recommended to deepen the root of the root approximately 10 cm into the ground. It is important to consider that, since this plant is curly, it is necessary to first build and support for shoots, which, on the one hand, should be stable, and on the other hand - easy. We note that in spring warm time, their daily growth can be up to 12 cm.

Care

Clematis is a beautiful, unpretentious plant, so caring for it is quite simple. It reduces primarily to the constant loosening of the soil and the removal of weeds. As for watering, the plant needs it once every two weeks. Before the fall of autumn, most varieties need to cut off shoots and cover with a 12-cm layer of soil, which will save plants even in conditions of 40-degree frosts. In spring, clematis in the garden are excavated immediately after the thawing of frozen soil. In the event that the onset of warming is delayed, however, the sun's rays are already shining brightly, the kidneys need to be covered from them so as not to allow growth until the root system thaws. Otherwise, the plant will not receive the necessary nutrients and may die.
