Chrysoberyl or Cat's Eye - from the evil eye and not only

Deciding to buy a "cheerful" beads, I wanted it to be not just costume jewelry, but an ornament full of meaning and good. Immediately I thought about semi-precious natural stones, products from which are relatively inexpensive, but very beautiful. Moreover, I tend to believe in the influence of stones on the person who owns them. I once heard that a natural cat's eye protects from the evil eye. That's why I wanted to pick bright, beautiful beads from it, which could, in addition to the decorative function, play the role of my amulet.

Considering on the Internet a lot of offers of similar goods, I saw quite a lot of spectacular ornaments in which this material was used. Especially liked one bead - long, made of shiny, bright beads of different colors. Did all this variety of palette could give one and the same stone - a cat's eye? Surprised, went into the description of the goods and was pretty disappointed, as the seller reported that the material from which the beads are made, is synthetic. Thank you for your honesty, but that's not what I wanted! But it became clear that it is worth to learn more about this gem before buying.

Again plunging into the net, I realized that with this mineral everything is not easy. The familiar name "cat's eye" combines many minerals with similar visual characteristics. Namely: all of them, being polished, have a peculiar shine in the form of a light strip parallel to the axis of the stone. The similarity of this glare with the elongated pupil of the cat and gave the name to the gems. The optical effect of this shine is associated with the presence of a multitude of parallel fine-fiber microinclusions in the structure of minerals. On this basis, the definition of "cat's eye" can give both expensive and cheaper stones (beryl, sapphires, rubies, quartz, jade, obsidian and others). The color of the stones can be different, with characteristic overflows of golden- or gray-green tones.

But originally the cat's eye is called chrysoberyls with a clearly noticeable effect of light iridescent glare. This is the third hardest of all minerals (harder than diamond and corundum). The gem is close to transparency or translucent, while it is colored from yellow to bright green, gray, reddish pink, brown, purple and other colors. Most often, chrysoberyls are yellow-golden (cymophanes) and glisten strongly.

It is believed that the cat's eye is a stone that has medical application. Kamenya with this effect is useful for rheumatism, gout, anemia, even with bronchial asthma. Beads from such minerals will help with diseases of the throat and bronchi. Ornaments with elements from this stone are indicated for the acceleration of fracture fusion and for getting rid of mental ailments.

And in magic, the cat's eye is in demand. Ornaments with it will perfectly suit those who are born under the signs of Scorpio and Cancer. But these people should not combine this gem with other stones. For other signs, such restrictions are not provided. Stone is considered to be a guard from human malice, corruption and evil eye. In addition, it will save the family from treason, help to maintain and strengthen the marriage. Esotericists believe that amulets with a cat's eye contribute to the development of the gift of foresight. Will help the owner to establish relations with others, to attract a positive attention.

Now, after learning more about the properties of the cat's eye, I will approach the choice of jewelry from him more consciously.
