Chicken god - a stone that attracts luck

Many superstitious people have gizmos, which, they believe, bring good luck. It can be anything: clothes, ornaments, trinkets. It is to the category of such things that the so-called chicken god, a stone with a hole in the middle, belongs. They are especially popular with children, but some adults also believe in their mysterious power. Even for those who are skeptical of such ideas, such a thing can become something that will evoke pleasant memories for a very long time.

Where to find the "chicken god" stone? And why is it so called? In fact, in nature they do not occur very often. They are found on pebble beaches, and, as a rule, it happens by chance. Of course, you can search for a stone specifically, but, firstly, the stronger will be the disappointment if it is not found, and secondly, how then to believe in the luck that such a specially found "chicken god" will bring? A stone with a hole made artificially is also of little value, except perhaps decorative. It is also impossible to pass it, because it is believed that in this case it will lose its properties, so it is necessary to search for the mentioned object on its own. But if you are lucky, it does not matter what the shape of the stone and the hole is, as well as its appearance or color. By the way, it is believed that the hole is formed as a result of prolonged exposure to running water. Remember the saying: "Water grinds the stone"? So, this is the very case.

The origin of the name of the mascot is interesting. It was of particular importance in the ancient Slavs. Such an amulet was suspended over a chicken's patch or just in the place where the cattle were kept, in order to protect living creatures from evil spirits. It's hard to say why it happened that the amulet is called "the chicken god". The stone, it was believed, could protect not only chickens, but also animals, and even humans.

In other languages, there are also special names for amulets of this kind. In Europe, they are often called hagstones, holystones or witch stones. In Egypt, they were named aggry. In Belarus, the subject of our conversation is known as the "Perunov arrow", or "Gromovka", because local residents believe that the chicken god is a stone in which
Lightning struck, and because of this, an aperture appeared in it. Virtually all peoples believe that such a stone brings happiness to its owner, to find it is still considered a great success. After all, it combines at once two elements: water, washing away any negative energy, and earth.

Some people are firmly convinced that this amulet has special properties. But the amulet operates only if you wear a pebble around your neck, passing a string through a hole, or at least in your pocket. If you place such a talisman next to the bed - you can normalize your sleep, get rid of nightmarish dreams and insomnia. He also gives calmness, optimism and a good mood. That's what he is - a chicken god - a stone that brings happiness!

Of course, some relate to such superstitions very, very skeptically, because how can this simple pebble really affect a person? Without faith in its properties - no way. For those who are inclined to this point of view, the chicken god can become just a beautiful and unusual accessory, especially it is combined with dresses in ethnic style.
