Charity is an example of the noblest feeling

How many articles are written on the theme of charity. Some try to reveal the essence of this virtue, the latter - to show its importance, and others completely disprove its unselfishness. And yet the essence of mercy, as before, eludes them, like a dream of the past dissolving in the depths of consciousness.

And all because you can not just take and describe the usual words such a phenomenon as mercy. An example is what is needed for a better understanding. It's only thanks to clear images that a person is able to understand the thoughts of another person. Otherwise, the written text will remain only on the screen.

What is charity?

The explanatory dictionary gives us quite a dry meaning of this word. According to him, charity is only a manifestation of compassion for another person. This is the ability of people to forgive each other, throwing back all ambitions and prejudices.

It would seem that there is nothing to add to this formulation. But, rereading these lines again and again, you gradually become convinced that something is missing here. As if in the shadows there was something unsaid, capable of putting everything in its place.

After all, charity is not just a feeling inside of us. It is a powerful force capable of doing good deeds. And if you understand it, comprehend and teach it to others, then soon the world will change forever. But let's talk about everything in order.

The invisible world of our souls

So, how better to understand the meaning of the word mercy? Well, for this you need to look inside yourself. Try to consider that distant, unknown world in which our feelings live. It is there that mercy is born and ripens.

But it can not exist for long. Without charity and kindness in the heart, charity quickly fades away. Therefore, only those who have cultivated these virtues can be called merciful. Awareness of this fact will help to better understand the nature of the concept we are considering, so to speak, to see its origins.

Why do you need mercy?

Reasoning on the topic of charity, it is impossible not to ask: "Is it so important in the modern world?" The question is fully justified. After all, now is the era of progress, the world is ruled by market relations, and almost all acquaintances are based on mutual benefit. Is not charity lost its importance in such a society?

The answer lies in the question itself. Yes, the world is now becoming much more severe, because capitalism and eternal competition made us look like predators. But that is why goodness and mercy are so important now. If they had not been, people would have gnawed at each other's throats for a long time in pursuit of their own piece of happiness.

Charity is a deterrent barrier that prevents humanity from falling into the abyss of its ambitions and desires. It, like a small raft, keeps us afloat in the sea of sins and vices. That is why the modern world so badly needs such virtue as mercy. An example that proves the truth of this statement can easily be found in real life. Every day someone commits an act of mercy towards others. This may be the usual giving to the poor or collecting money for the needs of the orphanage.

What is the difference between Christian and secular charity?

Poems about charity are a habitual norm for the Christian community. Many psalms and revelations are devoted to this topic. It is not surprising, because charity toward others is the main virtue for a believing person. But is there any difference between the usual manifestation of compassion and what Christians preach?

We must understand that any Christian wants to go to heaven, otherwise what's the point in his faith? Naturally, this statement can be argued, and yet ... there is hardly a person who voluntarily wants to go to hell. But now it's not about that. More importantly, there is almost always a desire to please God for the manifestation of Christian mercy. That is, he is the factor that influences the compassion of the believer.

If we talk about secular mercy, then it comes directly from the heart. Its source is the personal qualities and values of the individual. Such a person does not expect praise and rewards from above, his goal is mercy itself. An example of this can be seen in situations where people are trying to solve certain social problems: feed the hungry, give shelter to the homeless, help the wounded and so on.

Charity is an example of the noblest feeling

Although it does not matter what is the source of this feeling. After all, thanks to the actions that a person does under his influence, the world is getting better day by day. Assistance to orphans, the delivery of medicines to hot spots, the fight against hunger in African villages - all this became possible only thanks to the efforts of people in whose hearts the flame of mercy burns.

I'm glad that you can see the manifestation of this virtue not only on the screen, but also in real life. A guy helping an old woman to cross the road; A good woman who feeds homeless dogs daily; An unknown writer reading fairy tales in a children's shelter; Thousands of volunteers donating blood for the needs of the hospital ... All of them are vivid examples of human mercy, breaking the usual stereotypes of the modern world.
