Center for Lumiere Brothers: History and Expositions

The appearance of private museums in Russia has not yet become a permanent tradition. In the same Moscow there are not so many of them. One of them - the center of the Lumiere brothers - is a young private museum. Its creators were two people: Eduard Litvinsky and Natalia Grigorieva. Date of establishment - March 2010.

A little history of the institution

The location of the center was an old building located on the Bolotnaya Embankment. At one time, its owner was the factory "Red October". Galleries, design bureaus, architectural workshops, photo studios, restaurants and clubs - the center of the Lumiere brothers can rightly be called the center of cultural life in the capital. At first it was located on the territory of 800 square meters. M. Over time, it expanded to 1000 square meters. This is one of the indicators of the successful development of the institution. The center of photography of the Lumiere brothers is the venue for the most resonant metropolitan exhibitions.

The building consists of three exhibition halls: the Big, Small and White. Each of them introduces its visitors to a separate exhibition exposition. 400 pictures - this quantity can be exhibited here.

The opening of new photo exhibitions in the center takes place in two months. The Russian, Soviet and foreign art of photography is the theme of the expositions. It can be either exhibitions, which were prepared by museum curators, or imported. The purpose of the latter is to introduce foreign photography to the masters.

Special style of the center

The center of the Lumiere brothers is distinguished by a special style. Expositions are decorated only in black and white photographs. For painting the walls white color is used. Everything is laconic. No unnecessary details. This discreet and laconic interior helps you to feel on the old pictures a special life rhythm.

The White Hall

The exhibition space of the museum is a place of organization of interesting forms of leisure. Their main principle is the combination of a variety of art forms - photography, music and poetry. Having met with the exhibitions, visitors will be able to rest easy in a cafe. Coffee, baked goods and spiritual food are offered by the Lumiere Brothers Center. In the library located in the cafe you can get acquainted with the 20th-century magazine articles, rare editions on photography and photo albums. The only negative - most of the publications are in English. In the bookshop, operating in the center, you can buy a variety of products.
