Cape Khoboy - the mysterious place of Baikal

This cape is the most northern on the amazing island of Olkhon. Cape Khoboy awarded the status of a natural monument.

Cape of Olkhon on Baikal

Cape Khoboy (from Buryat - "fang") - this is a unique monument of nature, which is located in the north of the island of Olkhon. It has a pillarike shape of a rock.
From the water side, one rock of the cape resembles the face and bust of a woman (profile of a female figure) - this is the rock of Virgo. Similar can be seen on the ancient galleries of Greece. Remarkably this place is because on it from a huge monolithic rock the multi-voiced sonorous echo reflects with surprising sounds.

Also here you can see very rare relic (endemic) plants, found in a single place all over the world.

On the slopes of the promontory there are many herbs. Many medicinal thyme (Bogorodskaya grass).

Cape Khoboy on Lake Baikal is a complex of picturesque rocks, originally covered with orange lichen. On some rocks there are through holes and unusual cracks, giving this amazingly exotic place a special color.

The Cape also preserved the plants of the glacial period.

In clear weather, the Holy Nose (peninsula) on the eastern shore of Lake Baikal is visible from the top. Earlier, long ago, near the cape lived seals.

Legends of Cape

The very indigenous population of these places calls Cape Khoboy virgin or woman. As one of the legends says, this rock was once an ordinary woman. Because of her strong envy of her husband, she was converted by the gods to stone. The legend says that as soon as there is no malice and envy on the whole planet, this stone will again turn into that woman.
Another legend is connected with this cape. It is about a dragon dropping his fang during a flight over the sacred lake Baikal. Fang, falling to the headland, went deep into the earth, leaving a definite trace in the outlines of this island. Although some scientists believe that this legend is associated with people's memories of the fall of a certain body from space (possibly a small meteorite) many thousands of years ago. It is believed that such a catastrophe could be the reason for the geomagnetic activity of this part of Olkhon.

On Hoboj there is a constant powerful output of astral energy (numerous cases of the appearance of ghostly substances). In addition, local residents note that on the cape you can sometimes meet the spirits of ancestors or even your own previous incarnations.

Especially great luck here is to see the spirit of the White shaman, who sometimes comes out of the waters of Lake Baikal.

Who visits Cape Khoboy?

Very often this cape is visited by representatives of the most diverse spiritual schools. In this regard, it is often possible to see an unusual picture, for example, a person engaged in strange and unusual cases.
For many, Cape Khoboy is a place for meditation. On its northern side, these unusual "representatives" in the most prominent place left a sign - a red circle, and there are three points in it (the Roerich sign).

But as a true symbol of shamanic tales, on the verge of the northern monolithic rock, at the most inaccessible height for humans, in the crevices of the cape, you can see two huge eagle nests. According to ancient Buryat legends, the first person who acquired a shamanic gift is the son of the master (Olkhon spirit), who resides in the image of an eagle with a white head. Until now, the veneration of this bird has been preserved precisely as the spirit of the island.

Opposite the promontory there are quite good places for a wonderful holiday and overnight stay - well-equipped pebbly beaches.

Attractions of Olkhon

Cape Khoboy can show a lot from his height. Olkhon from there is shown with a clearly visible skewed tectonic block, which precipitously stops in the east by rocks (height 200-300 m), and in the west it descends gently towards the Small Sea.

Sometimes a dense fog is visible above the water.

Near Cape Khoboy there are two grottoes, the exit of which is oriented exactly at sunrise. Sandy flat areas of these grottoes are convenient for sleeping in sleeping bags. Lying in them, you can observe the beautiful sunrise. In the west of the island there is an inclined platform for performing shaman taiglacans in the spring. From there you can see the fang of Cape Khoboy.

At the very cliff of Khoboi, those wishing can take pictures of a through arch with a wonderful view of the western shore of Olkhon. Cape Khoboy is surprisingly exotic. Photo on the background of the slopes of the cape can decorate the photo album of any tourist.

The cape on the island of Olkhon is one of the most exotic and mysterious places of the great Baikal.
