Brooder with his own hands for quail. How to make a brooder

Even big fans of wildlife are unlikely to keep in the city quail apartment. To do this, there are more familiar birds - the same canaries or parrots. However, if you have a plot of land, and you are not averse to farming, it is absolutely worthwhile to pay attention to the quail.

What are these birds interesting from a commercial point of view?

Not for nothing for a long time carcases of quails were considered a delicacy. Meat is recognized as a highly diabetic product, because the proteins that are contained in it are very easily digested. And quail carcasses contain vitamins and mineral trace elements, which are difficult to find in complex in other products. Particularly relevant is the use of quail meat for cores, stomachs, kidneyworms and those with lung and liver problems. It will be superfluous for those who have a diagnosis of the musculoskeletal system.

The eggs of this bird are also highly valued. They rapidly increase immunity, strengthen memory, prevent all kinds of colds, relieve neuroses and strengthen the tissues of bones. The plus is also that allergy and diathesis quail eggs do not cause anybody.

So if you are thinking about which of the agricultural industries to invest their strength, money, time and hopes, start a quail farm.

Necessary equipment

A beginner quail is better to try his hand at an adult bird: she has already experienced "childish" dangers, and care for her is quite simple. For the content will have to acquire only the cells, and they can be the most common, for example, for parrots. However, if you decide to breed quail professionally, it is better to buy (or make) "houses" designed specifically for these birds.

It is more profitable, of course, to grow a bird from the very beginning, that is, from an egg. To start successfully, you will need primarily an incubator - quail eggs at home, eggs do not sit out. And in order to grow hatching chicks, you have to buy or make a brooder for quails.

Define in terms of

If the purpose of the incubator and its design people imagine quite accurately, then the second is more difficult. The name comes from the English brood, which means hatching eggs. Note that this is not quite an exact term, since the quail brooder (photo presented in the article) is intended for nursing already hatched chicks. The purpose of its use is to maintain the temperature, peace and humidity necessary for the young. No less important purpose is the correctness of fattening and balding chicks. It's not hard to buy, but it's just as easy to make a brooder by yourself for quails.

How to choose a material

If there are not enough future birds, a rather large box of plywood, plastic or cardboard will be suitable as a basis for the design. Many poultry farmers master brooder their own hands for quails precisely from such improvised materials. And that, cheap and angry: mounted wiring for heating and lighting - and no more costs. However, you can not equip such a box with either a mesh bottom or a waste tray. Paper for these purposes is not good: the feet of the quail are still uncertain and will part. Litter deeper chicks will try to eat on a par with food and may die. And with her change the youngsters are frightened, which is also fraught with a mass case. And the most primitive feeding bowls, which can be installed in such a brooder with their own hands for quail, must be regularly filled, which, again, leads to stress and death of chicks.

The most comfortable design: components

So it's better to spend a little money, both in terms of money and time and labor, so as not to suffer later with the fallen bird and trying to somehow correct the situation. Immediately make a professional stationary brooder for quails. Its size depends on the estimated number of young. If the chicks are not more than 50, the size of a simple mail box for parcels is enough - do not forget, the birds quail are small. But there are not enough heads for 250 brooders: a construction of 150 x 75 x 60 cm will be enough.

For the case, it's better to take 20 mm thick plywood and treat it from moisture with varnish (take a clean environment and do not evaporate from the temperature). The bottom will be two-layered: one of them must be removed. It will have to be lined with a fine mesh net. And the pallet: the frame is wooden (it will be covered with slats 5 cm wide and 1 cm thick), the bottom of moisture-proof plywood or thin galvanizing.

Heat and light

When you build a brooder by hand for quails, the most important part is the heating element. As it can act either an infrared lamp (it will both heat and light), or the system "warm floor" (in this case the brooder will have to be equipped with a low-power lamp so that the quail is not dark). The choice between the options depends on the number of livestock: for a small "herd" rather than the first - it is quite economical. But if the chicks are many, on electricity and you can go broke. In this case it is necessary to resort to the second method.

Installation of the structure

Focusing on the drawing brooder for quail, from the plywood saw out the workpieces, of which screwed the screws body. The same material cuts the door, supplied with stops and loops, covered with a grid and attached to the base. Then the floor is tightened by a grid and a frame is made with it for the demountable bottom. It is necessary to attach the bottom for the pallet - and the brooder is almost ready. It remains to mount the wiring and attach lighting and heating elements, as well as equip drinkers and feeders.

To the quail survived

Transplant chicks from the incubator to the brooder should not be earlier than 6 hours after hatching. This time is necessary to dry their down, otherwise the kids will die almost immediately after the transplant.

In the room where the cells, incubators and brooders are located, there should be no drafts, but good ventilation is necessary. If still somewhere somewhere, the first sign of this discomfort is the loss of plumage. Without waiting for more sad consequences, immediately determine the source of the unwanted wind. It is also desirable to be as near as possible to all this equipment - the quail does not tolerate human presence. It's doubly the chicks.

The temperature in the brooder for quails the first three days should be 37 degrees; It would be nice to build a thermometer for constant monitoring. The next 3 days it is maintained at 36 degrees, then - 35; That is, every three days you have to lower the heat by a degree. The end result is 22 Celsius, as in adult birds.

There are chicks starting from the first hours of their life. Since they are growing rapidly, they need a lot of protein, minerals and vitamins for their full development. To provide such needs, four weeks will be peppered with ready-made full-fledged bird feed for young animals.
