Bird of the Yurok: photo and description

Yurok - a bird, the description and lifestyle of which is in this article, refers to the order of passerine. It has a second, more common name - a finch. Outwardly the bird is smaller than the swift, but has a more round body. Plumage can be different, depending on the subspecies.

Habitat

The yurok bird lives in the north of Europe and Asia, from Kamchatka to Norway. From the borders of the last to the fjord of Oslo. In Sweden - to Philipsstadt and Upland, in Finland - to Kuopio. In Russia, the yurok is common in the northern part of the country, meets on the Murmansk coast, in the lower reaches of Pechora and in the Timan tundra, as well as in Siberia, Kostroma, Moscow and some other areas. A few nesting finches are found in Estonia.

Is it a migratory bird?

Yurok is a migratory bird or not? Yes, the yurok begins to move to other parts of the country in different months, depending on the area of residence. For example, in the Caucasus, the flight takes place in early March, in the Middle Urals - in May, and in the Moscow region - in April. In the South Urals, the first flocks of yurks are observed in September, in Armenia the birds live until the end of November. In southern Kazakhstan, the early flight begins at the beginning of October, and the late one - in a month.

Appearance

The Jurassic bird is of small size, the body length reaches 14 centimeters, and the weight is from 15 to 34 grams. This species of birds is very similar to finches, but differs in coloring of plumage. Yurka it is more contrast. The head, neck and cheeks of the males are saturated black. Abdomen with nadhvostem white, and the back, chin and chest - red. The tail and wings are black with red stripes.

The females differ from the males by the saturation of the plumage. On the throat, craw and breast color is duller than in males. The same dull plumage is also young. The beetles of the yurks are black, powerful enough. These birds are very similar to the finch ways of life. Two species of birds can often be found in one flock.

Subspecies of yurts

The yurka bird is called differently, depending on the color of the plumage:

  1. Canaries have a bright yellow abdomen, and the back and wings are with brown spots and stripes, arranged with bizarre patterns.
  2. The snowy yurk tummy is light beige. The wings and back are brown, and the feathers can be completely black.
  3. The red-horned yurok is distinguished by the characteristic coloration of the head, due to which it received its name. Sometimes the color can be orange and occur as inclusions on the wings.
  4. The Yellow-bellied Yurok is one of the most beautiful. The color of the abdomen is pale or acid yellow.
  5. The Galapagos Jurks are named for their place of residence. These representatives of the family have brown color with dark strips and specks. The beak is more powerful than the other relatives.
  6. The feathering of female earthy Jurks is dark brown or grayish, and the opposite sex has black.

The representatives of the family differ not only in color and sex, but also in their way of life. In Europe, as soon as the cold season comes, the bird of the yurok flies to the south, to the Mediterranean. Some species of Yurks prefer to live in flocks, and others - in separate pairs. But they can easily get along with other species of birds. Some Jurks are called singers. For execution of trills, they are taken to the high eaves or trees.

Food

Jyrki is preferred by animal feed, and plant foods are consumed mostly in winter. In summer, birds feed on arthropods, mostly weevil beetles. They like to eat caterpillars of butterflies, hymenopterans, spiders and aphids. The bird of the Jurasses from the vegetation eats the seeds of blueberries and crows.

In the Transcarpathian region, birds eat beech nuts, collect seeds of coniferous plants. In the Caucasus in the autumn, the bird's diet consists mainly of seeds of weeds and sunflower. In the winter season, finches often additionally eat food from feeders, carefully made by man.

Reproduction and life expectancy

The Jurok bird mostly lives in large flocks, but some species prefer a pair existence, especially in the mating season. A female with a partner is very responsible for nesting. The couple carefully chooses the place and weaves the "house" from the grass and small fine twigs. Nests turn out very neat, inside are covered with down, animal hair and feathers. Sometimes only the female is engaged in construction, and the male earns livelihood.

Masonry (from one to three) depends on the subspecies of yurks. The female brings in two to eight eggs. Hatching often occurs by both parents. While one hunts, the second looks after the eggs, then they change. But in some cases, the hatching of eggs is handled only by the female, and the partner's task is to provide food.

The chicks hatch on average in two weeks. First, their parents feed them, spewing the digested food into the beaks. When the chicks are growing up, they begin to independently procure their food and hunt. The finch can live up to fifteen years.
