Azithromycin: instructions, recommendations

Among the many discoveries that have helped mankind survive, antibiotics are on a special place. According to some sources, Salvarsan was the first such medicine to be produced in industrial production (1910), the others - "Tirotrocin", received in 1939. Known to everyone, "Penicillin", discovered by Fleming in 1929, for a long time could not be turned into Stable shape. When this finally happened, many diseases ceased to be fatal.

Today, there are many generations of antibiotics (the term was first introduced in 1942). One of the last - "Azithromycin". The instruction to the drug explains that it belongs to a relatively recently discovered subgroup of macrolide preparations, is an antibiotic-azalide. The substance of a broad spectrum of action, accumulating in the lesion, has a strong bactericidal effect.

Unable to act on Gram-positive microorganisms resistant to "Erythromycin", "Azithromycin", the instruction lists its properties in detail, copes well with gram-positive, gram-negative and anaerobic bacteria. Among them, St. Viridans, Streptococcus pneumoniae, St. Agalactiae, Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Moraxella catarrhalis Treponema pallidum, Chlamydia trachomatis, a host of other microorganisms.

To put it simply, "Azithromycin" is an antibiotic, which is prescribed for the treatment of diseases, the incomplete list of which is given below. However, it is worth remembering that independent treatment with any antibiotics, especially as effective as Azithromycin, can lead to irreparable consequences. Misappropriation or illiteracy of medication leads, at a minimum, to dysbiosis. And this is not the worst complication. Pain in the abdomen, vomiting, dizziness, dysfunction of the liver and kidneys - that's an incomplete list of side effects of the drug. Possible nephritis, vaginitis, allergic reactions. Children and some adults sometimes experience overexcitation, drowsiness, or, on the contrary, insomnia.

When an overdose of the same drug "Azithromycin", the instruction does not hide this, there may be loss or confusion, damage to the liver, kidneys.

It is for these reasons that the drug should be prescribed only by a doctor. Moreover, before the antibiotic treatment is prescribed, the instruction strongly recommends that the doctor be obliged to conduct tests to determine if a specific infection is treatable by this composition, whether there is a patient's allergy medication.

When the samples are done, you can start treatment.

"Azithromycin", the description for it contains this information, is prescribed for diseases:

  • Upper, lower respiratory tract: tonsillitis, pharyngitis, pneumonia, certain types of bronchitis
  • ENT diagnoses: sinusitis, otitis, laryngitis
  • Genitals and urological organs: cerviitis, urethritis
  • Skin: impetigo, infectious lesions, erysipelas

The success of treatment depends on how well the treatment is carried out. The drug "Azithromycin", the instruction on it insists, is drunk or injected at regular intervals. If for some reason the medicine is not accepted, then it should be done as quickly as possible.

The doctor appoints the dosage individually, based on the diagnosis, age, weight of the patient.

"Azithromycin" is also known by other names. Synonyms (analogues) of the Russian "Azithromycin" are the Indian "Azivok", "Azitral", the Russian "Azitroks", the Croatian "Sumamed", the Serbian "Chemomycin".

At the heart of these drugs is the same active substance, but they differ by the producer country and a set of auxiliary components. The price framework for drugs is about the same, so pharmacies can suggest replacing one drug with another. This is possible, but only after consultation with the attending physician, who must determine the dosage and tolerability of the drug by the particular patient.
