Aquarium fish Mollies: breeding and grooming

The aquarium is definitely an excellent decoration for any interior. He will introduce a new stream into his everyday life, brighten it with bright colors or soothe the soul. Aquarium fish: mollies, guppies, catfish and so on - quite unpretentious pets. They will not spoil your favorite sofa, they will not wake you up in the middle of the night. However, the fish will quickly learn to recognize the one who brings them food, they will swim closer and play cheerfully, waiting for food.

Description

Aquarium fish molliesia is one of the most common (both among experienced connoisseurs, and among novice aquarists). These are specimens with a body length from 4 to 16 cm, elongated; Females of this species are larger than males. Due to the long-term selection, copies of different colors (mottled, etc.), as well as various forms, for example, veil, are derived. For a long time the most common was the sight of Black Molly. In nature, these fish are found from Texas to Venezuela and Colombia. And they inhabit not only fresh water bodies, but also slightly brackish and even sea coasts. Fish is viviparous, although among the representatives of this family it is considered, perhaps, the most capricious. Like other viviparous aquarium fish, molliesia in appearance makes it possible to determine the sex. For this it is enough to look at the anal fin. If it is rounded, then this specimen is a female, and if it is an acute form, it is a male.

Conditions of detention

To make this fish aquarium feel good, it is necessary to fulfill sufficiently stringent requirements. First of all, she does not like crowding, so in the aquarium should be at least 6 liters of water per pair of this species. Filtering should be provided, since Molliesia does not like dirty water (and even turbidity), and sufficient aeration is necessary. In order for these hard-working fish to move freely, there should be enough free space in the aquarium. However, like other aquarium fish, Molliesia will also require the presence of plants, snags and other shelters. The temperature that they need for normal life is 25-30 degrees. The sharp fluctuations in the temperature of the water of Molliesia suffer very poorly. It is also advised for the comfort of these fish to add to the aquarium water a small amount of table salt (per 1 liter of water - about 2-3 grams). Mollieses prefer to swim in the upper and middle layers of the water. It is also necessary to replace a small amount of water (not more than a third) every week.

Feeding

These fish are omnivorous. They need plant food (in dry form and in the form of algae). Also, they will require live food or integrated specialized feed. It is necessary to create conditions under which the feed will not immediately sink to the bottom (for the Mollies to catch it).

With sufficient care and careful attention, like other aquarium fish, Mollies can deliver to its owner many pleasant minutes. Good luck and a pleasant stay for contemplating the beauties of the aquarium!
