Analysis of the organizational structure of the enterprise: the essence and necessity

Organization is a complex system that includes many interrelated elements of varying importance, impact on organization, resource intensity, productivity, and so on. An analysis of the organizational structure of any firm makes it possible to get an idea of how this organization operates, identify weaknesses in the organizational structure and take measures to eliminate them.

In order to understand how any mechanism works, it is necessary to understand how it works. That's exactly what they do with the firm when they conduct an analysis of the organizational structure. The result of this analysis is the management scheme of the company, which gives a clear idea of who is reporting to whom and to whom. After carrying out such a study, it becomes much easier to manage the organization, and also introduce any changes regarding the management structure.

As a rule, when analyzing the organizational structure of management, they come to one and three types of structures: linear, matrix and functional. The linear structure assumes strict subordination from the top down: there is a boss, there are subordinates, and the same employees always obey the same boss. A functional organization assumes a slightly different approach: in an organization with a functional structure, subordinates report to different supervisors, depending on what kind of work they do. The matrix structure combines the features of the two previous structures, and each subordinate has two chiefs - one direct in the hierarchy, and one functional. This structure is typical for transnational corporations, the analysis of their organizational structure is most difficult to carry out.

Analyzing the structure of the firm, you can determine which areas of its structure are inefficient, and how you can improve the work of those or other problem areas. This is precisely the purpose of the procedure, such as the analysis of the structure of the enterprise. Ineffective sites can be of the following types:

The subordinate, who has three or more superiors, will not work efficiently, because he can not satisfy the requirements of everyone and everyone at the same time, besides he gets too many tasks.

An employee who submits only formally, while the chief does not have any significant leverage - this employee is not motivated to work more efficiently, which means that it will hamper the company's development.

Departments in which there are too few employees - the so-called "bottlenecks" - are areas of the organizational structure that, because of their low capacity, can not cope with the full scope of their responsibilities.

Departments, in which employees, on the contrary, are too many - are coping with tasks perfectly, but they are characterized by inefficient use of resources. In such departments, there are almost always one or two lazy idlers, whose working day is reduced to viewing social networks and endless tea parties. As a rule, such employees are transferred to departments where there is a shortage of staff, where they perfectly join the work and start working for the benefit of the company. Such a translation extremely rarely causes dissatisfaction among employees - usually people try to be useful to the firm, and normally perceive the translation.

The earlier and the more detailed the analysis of the organizational structure, the earlier will be found and eliminated all the problem areas, the faster the company will develop, and the more it will come. Successes to you, effective work and high profits, dear entrepreneurs!
