Actor Mark Bernes: biography, filmography and personal life

September 25, 1911 in the Ukrainian city of Nizhyn was born Mark Neumann, but the whole country knows him under the name of Mark Bernes, whose biography is unusual. A person who did not know the musical notation, conquered the country with sincerity and thoughtfulness of the songs. For the honor, the best poets and composers were considered to give their works to him.

Childhood

Naum Neumann served in the artel, which collected recyclable materials, and the mother was engaged in household chores. So it was customary in those days for a woman to stay at home. In 1916, with the whole family, they moved to Kharkov, where Mark graduated from the seven-year school. Parents dreamed that the son will become an accountant, but the teenager has other plans - he is attracted to the scene. He studies at the theater technical school and at the same time works as an extra in the theater. As in a fairy tale, one of the actors got sick, and Mark was released on stage as a waiter in an operetta, for which he was praised by director N. Sinelnikov. Then came the sonorous nickname Bernes.

Moscow

In the province, he feels that for creative growth it is necessary to move to Moscow. To anyone unknown, Bernes comes to the capital and starts working as an extras at once in several theaters. A year later in 1930 he played small roles in the Moscow Drama Theater. And in 1934 he received his first prize "For the best performance in the work." On the first run Marc Bernes rose, whose biography is just beginning to rise.

Cinema

Since 1935 charming and photogenic Bernes begins to act in films. In the year 38, the whole country will sing the song "Clouds over the city of steel" from the movie "The Man with a Gun", and he will receive the Order of Honor (1939) for this performance. Not on the stage, but in the cinema, performing lyrical and intimate songs, the actor Mark Bernes will become famous. His biography has roles that required a strong male character, for which there was a calm will and soft humor.

In the movie Two Fights, his two songs will become, as we would say, hits: "Dark Night" and "Shalandas". They could be heard on the radio and on the plates. Bernes played a bold Odessite. In this role he opened with a comedy side. But for this he needed to learn how to speak as an Odessa citizen. And then the people of Odessa took offense when he said that they were not from this city, they still continued to consider him their countryman. For the role in this film, Burns, as a real front-line soldier, was awarded the Order of the Red Star (1943).

After the war, Mark continued to act in films. Everyone was waiting for a new song from him, although his voice was weak, "home," so to speak. But he knew how to perfectly perform the song Mark Bernes, whose biography is an intelligent approach to song creation, sincerity and warmth will lead to the stage.

Stage

For the first time at a public concert, Mark Bernes spoke at the Officers' Club in Sverdlovsk. This was in 1943. Then came a trip with concerts across the Urals. And in the capital, he started singing songs from the late 1940s. Gradually the repertoire developed, to which Mark Naumovich Bernes was very meticulous. Biography shows that these were not whims, but a manifestation of the artist's high taste and his artistic intuition. He carefully selected songs that were important to him personally, worked a lot with both composers and poets. Therefore, he did not have "pass-through" works: any of them necessarily became important for the listener. In general, he created, working tirelessly on the stage, a repertoire of 82 songs. At the same time he took the most active part in the creation of more than forty compositions. Continuing to act in films in the 50-60 years, Mark Bernes still worked with songs. In his repertoire there were such songs as "My dear Muscovites", "If the boys of the whole earth", "I love you, life".

When nationality is not a hindrance

In 1957, five French composers who wrote songs for the festival, including Yves Montand, came to Moscow for a festival. They had to take care of Nikita Bogoslovsky, first, because he was a member of the Union of Composers, and secondly, he knew French very well. And so, as Zinovy Efimovich Gerdt said, he sees that the French and the Theologian are standing and talking fast, while Mark Bernes is quietly silent next to him. Biography, the nationality of the performer, he was very helped then. Someone is recalling Bogoslovsky, and everyone is awkwardly silent. And then Bernes takes a deep breath and says something in Yiddish. The French were delighted with the end. "Are you really a Jew?" It turned out that the composers were French Jews. The conversation went on actively, and the theologian who came up now did not understand a single word of himself. And when he begged to translate the conversation, Bernes joked: "And where did you just bring up, Nikita? Why are you interfering in someone else's conversation? "

Difficult years

In 1958-60, the central press fell on Bernes with criticism, more like a baiting. The actor was excommunicated from the cinema, and from the stage for vulgarity in music. No new records were recorded, he did not go on the air on the radio. But everything passes. In 1960, in the All-Union program "Good Morning", Bernes's heartfelt voice resounded again.

"The enemies burned their native hut"

Unusual, heartfelt verses about the soldier at the grave of his wife were written by Mikhail Isakovsky, and Matvei Blanter, having met them, created a song. But she was banned: she seemed too gloomy. Not such songs should be at the people-winner. The song lay for sixteen years. But when she got to Mark Burns, he first performed it on the stage of the Green Theater in Gorky Park. Everyone came to relax, have fun, and Bernes went out and somehow shyly, recitative began to quietly without pathetic sing. The hall froze, and then there was a storm of applause. But Bernes retreated from the program, acted at his own risk. Then letters of soldiers came to him with sacks, and the censorship could not stop the song that had become folk, because in it everything to one word - the truth: someone had medals for Budapest, someone came only to their own graves, Then he did not stay at home. The poem Isakovsky performed by Burns became popular. It is filled with the power of grief of the victorious nation. But if it were not for the actor Mark Bernes, whose biography speaks of courage, then perhaps we would not have known it yet.

A family

In 1956, the first wife of Bernes, Polina Linetskaya, died. She was an unusually beautiful woman. They lived together for 24 years, and they had a daughter Natasha. A mother who lost her mother was only three years old. And in 1960 Mark Naumovich brought his daughter to first grade, and in the courtyard of the only school in the capital of the French school he met a young woman who came here with her son Jean. It turned out that her name was Lilia Mikhailovna Bodrova, and she was married to a French photographer. The husband introduced his wife to a famous singer and actor all over the country. And Mark Bernes at first sight fell in love.

Their children sat at one desk, and at the parents' meetings Mark Bernes and Lily were next to each other. Very nicely and delicately looked after a woman who was eighteen years younger than him, Mark Bernes. Biography, the artist's personal life is now outlined. He invited her to show closed films Fellini, Antonioni, Bergman or listen to Aznavour's new recordings. Mark was a very charming man: a smile, a black eye acted almost irresistibly. Near it was cozy and secure. And two months later Lilia Mihailovna moved to Bernes. All her acquaintances were only amazed: her French husband was a wealthy man by Moscow standards and very fashionable, to whom women simply "hung". And next to Mark was calm, and there was a hope for a good upbringing of two kids.

Mark Bernes: biography, children

Mark suddenly became the happy father of two children. Natasha and Jean immediately understood and accepted them. Lily spent so much time on children that Mark sometimes reproached her: "We do not know how much you and I have been released, but they have everything ahead of them."

In their clean, cozy, cheerful house, Bernes's friends often came in: Lidia Ruslanova, Olga Lepeshinskaya, actors of cinema and theaters, and many foreign correspondents. Bernes, on the first day of his acquaintance, had been with his wife all the years. She always had her favorite fresh cloves. They worked together at the insistence of Bernes. His wife was a entertainer and held creative meetings. They lived together and did not leave for nine years. They were separated only by grief - the death of Mark Naumovich. Lilia Mikhailovna no longer married - there was no one equal to Burns. But it was necessary to educate children who are already sixteen years old.

The daughter of Burns and Paola Natasha graduated from Moscow State University and left for the United States. Her personal life did not work out. She divorced her husband, and the second husband left her. Lilia Mikhailovna's son Jean graduated from the camera department of the VGIK, but did not work in his specialty.

Work after marriage

Mark Naumovich worked a lot and successfully. He traveled with tours both around the country and abroad. In 1961, a new song appeared: "Do Russian Wars Want?" Yevtushenko himself said that Bernes had introduced so many amendments that it is impossible to recall exactly what Mark Naumovich suggested. He went on tour to Poland, Yugoslavia, Romania, Czechoslovakia, and Bulgaria. He appeared on English television. On all trips he was accompanied by his wife. Without her, he refused to speak. In 1968, everyone enthusiastically accepted the new film "The Shield and the Sword", and Bernes performed the song "Where the Homeland Begins". Already being seriously ill, a month before his death, he recorded the song "Cranes" the first time.

He died popularly on August 16, 1969. He was buried at Novodevichy Cemetery, performing four of his songs, which he himself chose. This is "Three years I dreamed of you", "Romance Roshchina", "I love you, life" and "Cranes". Thus ended the intense life of the artist, whom we know as Mark Bernes. A brief biography of the artist is set out in the article.
