A welded seam is a reliable way to connect parts

A welded seam is the junction of two or more parts that is formed as a result of the crystallization process of a metallic melt in a weld pool. The metal that fuses into the bonding site consists of a mixture of filler material and the molten workpiece.

The classification of such compounds is quite extensive, which makes it possible to easily determine the type of welded joint. For example, by the nature of the execution, the seams are single-sided and bilateral, and in the direction of impact - frontal, flank, combined, and oblique. In addition, the spatial position is also of great influence. In this category, there are horizontal and vertical, ceiling and lower connections.

Each weld has its own characteristic external shape, which has three varieties: weakened, normal and reinforced. In turn, the shape of the cross-section distinguishes between angular and butt welds. Thanks to all this diversity, you can get a huge number of connections, for example, cross, T-joint or butt. The latter are used only for butt joints of a continuous nature. A characteristic feature, which distinguishes such a seam among others, is the cutting of the edges of the parts, or rather their shape in the cross section. The most widely used are single- and double-sided, curvilinear, rectilinear forms, there are also products on which there is no cutting of the edges. V-shaped and X-shaped are considered as complex forms of edge processing. In turn, the corner weld also has differences in the shape of the edges, as well as in the nature of welding: continuous or intermittent.

All existing types of seams allow you to connect parts of different thicknesses from a wide variety of metals. In addition, many methods have been developed that are intended to improve the characteristics of the weld and improve the reliability of such a joint. Such activities can be fairly considered: the use of special filler material; Welding of parts in the gas environment, which facilitates the removal of oxygen from the arc burning region; Flux use and others.

The welded seam can be made automatically, semi-automatically or manually. Each of these methods has its own peculiarities, and consequently can be applied in different conditions. This allows you to extend the range of welding applications.

The welding zone in which the parts are connected is exposed to significant thermal stresses. Such processes, as is known, lead to drastic changes in the distribution and nature of the efforts that arise. This has a negative effect on the reliability of the connections.

The parameters that characterize the weld are directly related to its geometric dimensions. This width, the amount of reinforcement and blunting, the size of the gap, as well as the thickness of the parts to be welded.

The control of welded seams is carried out at the production site, since this determines the quality, reliability and durability of this type of connection.
