A variety of roofs - types of coatings

When erecting any house, the roof and its covering are an important part of the structure. To protect from natural conditions: snow, rain, hail, wind - any house needs a roof. Types of it are presented in the modern market in large quantities, and you can choose not only high-quality, but also suitable for color and cost option. They are divided into roofs for dachas, cottages and urban construction. One of the most common materials in Russia remains galvanized steel - a fairly light and inexpensive material that allows to cover the roof of any shape. This is a traditional roof, the types of which are used everywhere: sheet, mastic, piece or set, roll and membrane. But the exclusive cover is quite expensive and is used extremely rarely (copper, turf, tile, reed, slate).

Types of roofing, the photos of which are presented below, have different characteristics.

Sheet

Sheet roofing material in turn is divided into asbestos-cement sheets, metal, bitumen-cardboard and steel galvanized sheets. The first of such materials appeared wavy asbestos-cement sheets or, as people call it, slate. This is a fairly durable material and can last up to 50 years. And to give a decorative look and greater strength, it is covered with a special slate paint. Wavy bitumen-cardboard sheets, known as ondulin, Euroshow or aqualine, are much lighter than slate and steel sheets. They are very plastic and convenient to install. Service life is slightly less than slate or galvanized steel sheets (from 25 to 30 years).

Mastic

Such roofs are good where there are severe natural conditions. They consist of one or more components that are poured on the roof surface. After the mass has dried, a rubber-like monolithic surface forms.

Recruitment

This is a piece roof, the species of which are represented in large numbers. The most common form of it is flexible soft shingles. This is a very reliable, aesthetically attractive and durable material. This coating does not require maintenance and is suitable for installation in difficult areas.

Rolling

The most famous of the roll roofing materials are roofing felt, ruberoid and parchment. The basis for their manufacture is cardboard. Apply them mainly as a waterproofing layer. This is a short-lived material that is rotting. At the present time, another roof, types of polymer-bituminous material began to be produced on the same basis, which has increased its durability, thermal insulation and frost resistance. It is spread with a mastic on a concrete or metal base.

Membrane

Membrane coatings are used mainly for public and industrial buildings. It is a polymer rubber-like material, high-strength, not afraid of punctures and sprains. It is a canvas that unfolds and fits on the roof. Such material can be mounted on an old roof. The variety and types of roofing roofs allow finding the optimal solution, so do not rush with the choice of roofing material, since the durability of the entire building depends on it.
