5 pillars of Islam

Islam is a special way of life that affects all aspects of human existence. It is built on five basic tenets of the dogma, which are its foundation. The commandments of Islam are faith and testimony that no one and nothing worthy of worship except God and that Muhammad is the last prophet who pointed out that a Muslim who adheres to all 5 pillars of Islam will necessarily fall after his death in paradise.

The main tenets of the dogma are determined by five basic postulates, they are of great importance for Islam. The pillars of Islam are not all religion, but without them, it would not exist. If faith in the commandment is strong, it will have a strong influence on the life of a Muslim.

5 pillars of Islam:

  1. Shahada is the confirmation that there is no Lord except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and messenger;
  2. Salat - rite of five times daily prayer;
  3. Zakat - payment of donations;
  4. To the Sons - observance of the thirty-day fast during the holy month of Ramadan;
  5. Hajj is a pilgrimage to the city of Mecca, if it is capable of this.

Shahada

In translation from Arabic, shahada means "testimony". This is the observance of strict monotheism (Tawhid), belief in the unity of Allah. Shahada means that the Lord is Eternal and One, He is the All-Power Creator, the chief ruler who owns and controls the whole universe, and there is no one like Him. The whole universe obeys His laws. This belief in God holds the main place in the beliefs of a Muslim. The law of the Lord must necessarily rise above all other laws and considerations, so the real Muslim lives according to the example of the Prophet (Sunnah) and the Holy Qur'an. A person who utters a witness for the sake of Allah sincerely becomes a Muslim.

Salat

Rite prayer (Salat) is the second pillar of Islam. A Muslim must, five times a day, make prayers, during which he turns to the Kaaba in Mecca. This ritual prayer follows the example of the Prophet Muhammad, which he showed to all throughout his life. The prophet usually led the Muslim prayer in Medina and Mecca, showing them how to pray properly. For every Muslim, prayer is considered mandatory if he is healthy and can do it. Prayer in Islam is divided into mandatory (wajib or fard), approved (sunna) and optional (nafil). There are five obligatory prayers in Islam - fajr, zugr, asr, maghrib and isha. All these five prayers are performed at different times, in different poses and consist of a certain number of repeating cycles (rak'ahs). Everyday fivefold prayers are a sacred duty of a Muslim, non-observance of which makes a Muslim a sinner, and who denies the duty of fulfilling them is not a Muslim (kaafir).

Zakat

Zakat is a material obligatory donation. Once a year a wealthy Muslim should pay a donation, the amount of which is determined by his kind of activities, income and type of property. For different types of property, a different share of payments is charged, and as regards cash payments, 2.5 percent of the amount is given from them.

To the Sons

Sons or Uraza - fasting in the holy month of Ramadan. The essence of the fast is to worship the Lord by abstaining from drinking, food and intimacy and everything that can interfere with pious behavior of a person during the daytime, within 30 days.

Hajj

Hajj is the last of the five pillars of Islam. He means a pilgrimage to the city of Mecca. The most important place of pilgrimage is the Kaaba, which is the heart of the city. Hajj is mandatory only for those who can afford it financially and physically. The pilgrimage takes place once in a lifetime.

The above 5 pillars of Islam are the main in the life of every Muslim, they built their entire life. These commandments are not listed in the Quran, but they were in the tradition and life of Muhammad, therefore most Muslims agree with them. The five pillars of Islam are acts that are the foundation of faith and encompass both its aspects and aspects of ritual worship.
