Why there are problems with sound

As often happens, it only seems that the problems with sound in Windows operating systems are difficult to solve on their own. If you carefully analyze the "symptoms", you can easily localize the possible cause of the abnormal "behavior" of the computer's sound card. As you know, any computer system consists of software and hardware parts. The first is the drivers, codecs, shells, etc. Accordingly, the second is represented by components, more commonly known as "hardware". Obviously, problems with sound can be caused both by the incorrect operation of the hardware component and by the control programs.

Although the developers are trying to make their products quite reliable, breakdowns still happen. If there are problems with sound, then it is more rational to start the search for the cause with the diagnostics of the components. You need to make sure that the wire to the audio card does not have any visible damage - sometimes it's enough to simply transfer it with furniture, partially damaging the wires to get clicks, noises or complete silence in the sound stream (depending on how "lucky"). It is also useful to check the status of the connector. Well, the champion in terms of the number of complaints about the sound is a break in the conductor in the plug of the wire. To check, you can temporarily connect to the output of normal headphones.

Much more often problems with sound arise due to errors in the software, sometimes completely unrelated to the audio stream. For example, sometimes it happens that the sound disappears after reinstalling the operating system, but before that everything worked. In this case, it can be argued that the reason is programmatic.

Problems with the sound of Windows 7, and in any other system, most often occur in novices who forget to install drivers. These special programs, designed to control a particular device, are installed once. When buying a computer, a disk is given, on which there are drivers for all components of the motherboard - they need to be set, immediately after the installation of the operating system.

If the card is discrete (separate), then a support disk must also go with it. Alternatively - go to the site of the motherboard manufacturer, find your model, download and install the necessary drivers. By the way, you should not chase the novelty, installing alpha and beta versions, because they are unstable in the work.

Problems with sound in Windows 7 can also be caused by the peculiarity of the operation of this system with the "direct sound" component. This hardware acceleration of the output of the audio stream by the card itself, actively used in the early versions of Windows systems. In the "Seven" such an opportunity is abolished, since the mechanism for the operation of applications with the kernel has been substantially redesigned. Therefore, it is inappropriate to use the possibility of outputting sound through "direct sound" in programs, since distortions and noise are possible due to a double conversion. For example, in the well-known Winamp player running under Win 7, you must specify the usual Wave Out in the output settings. So, here are two more possible reasons - drivers and correct output settings.

Sometimes rattles in the speakers can occur due to the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other wireless communication modules. If they are not used, they should be disabled.
