How to connect speakers to a computer

Each owner of a personal electronic assistant sooner or later wondered how to connect the speakers to the computer. Even convinced conservatives, who initially believe that it is possible to do with ordinary headphones, later change their opinion in favor of the speakers, even as an additional source of sound. In fact, the convenience of using them is rather difficult to overestimate: with them the computer can easily be turned into a modern music center, which supports not only karaoke, but also complex processing of sound stream.

Surprisingly, the very first question that every second owner of a personal computer encounters is not how to connect speakers to a computer, but which devices to choose. There are three ways to solve the problem, targeting buyers with different financial opportunities.

Some users do not need a column at all to listen to music, but to hear the message in ICQ or not to skip a call to Skype. In this case, the choice is quite simple, since any two (stereo) are suitable. The only recommendation: it is better to look at models, the body of which is made of wood. Budget wooden wood sounds much better than plastic similar class. The difference in value between them though is, but it is insignificant.

But here they are acquired. How to connect speakers to a computer now? The wire coming from them is connected to the green connector of the audio adapter on the back of the system unit. In some cards, the Jack Detect function does not work correctly, so we turn on the wire when the computer is turned on. If a power cord is provided, then do not forget about it.

For those who appreciate good sound and are not too cramped in the media, it makes sense to choose a multi-channel 5.1 standard sound system (and above). In this case, the solution of the question of how to connect the speakers to the computer is slightly different, since at least 3 connectors of the sound card are used. First you need to assemble the system, following the instructions attached to it. The connection corresponds to the Color Coded Connector, so the green connector of the computer's audio card includes front speakers, blue - rear, and pink for the center speaker and subwoofer. After that it remains to configure in Windows multichannel audio mode.

In a similar way, the question of how to connect 4 speakers to a computer is solved. Three connectors: green, blue and pink. Two in one, two in another, and driver settings in 5.1 mode. Sometimes you may need to adjust the volume at different outputs.

Not every potential buyer decides to pay a decent amount for the device is not necessary. Fortunately, there is a way out. Surely, many on the shelf are dusting columns from the music center or even powerful in 75 W, miraculously left since Soviet times. It's unlikely that their creators could have assumed that their creations would reproduce sound from a computer. Judging by the number of questions, how to connect speakers from the center to the computer, asking themselves on the forums, this possibility worries many.

All such solutions require the use of an active amplifier, since the connection of such devices will directly burn the amplifying cascades of the audio card. Both the center and the independent amplifier need to be connected to the audio adapter. In modern musical centers, the "In" connector is made of a standard 3.5 mm. We buy a wire with 3.5 mm plugs: one side to the center, the other to the green card slot. Older amplifiers are designed for 5-pin round plugs, so you need to solder a simple adapter to 3.5 mm (or buy it on the market) and connect the outputs. It remains to transfer the center to the pass-through amplifier mode (the first case) or to turn on the device (the second one). The speaker configuration is stereo.
